VOLUME XXXI, NUMBER 1 SPRING 2015 Greetings everyone! I wish to express a hearty Thank You from your Board of Directors and myself for trusting in us to lead this organization in 2015. I am truly humbled by the opportunity to serve you. The Board met on February 6th and I am pleased to report we, as an organization, are healthy and vibrant. This is due to the participation and efforts everyone puts in at their respective districts. A debt of gratitude is in order for our Past President, Scott McCormick. His wisdom and dedication continued to move our organization forward in 2014. Thank you, Scott! Our Vice President, Don Stewart, has diligently worked on our Chapter Affiliation submission package to ASHE for the Platinum Award. We have been deemed this highest status for six years in a row. We expect to be granted this designation again. Thank you, Don! We also owe a huge thank you to Alethea Vitray as she will continue to be our Executive Director. Alethea works very hard for this organization in arranging the Board Meetings, Spring and Annual Workshops, Seminars, and Trade Show. There are so many tasks that she provides for our organization which are accomplished behind the scenes. Thank you, Alethea! We have an exciting program scheduled for our FHEA 31st Spring Meeting at the Marriott Fort Lauderdale-Coral Springs. We will start on May 14th with a CHFM Prep Workshop for the Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) test. This course will be instructed by Leo Gehring, CHFM, CHC, FASHE. Also occurring on the same day is the 8th Annual Spring Golf Scramble. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know each other. A special thank you is in order for Greg Hodgson for heading this event. On May 15th we will have a series of superior speakers for the General Session Education. We will also have a limited number of tabletop exhibits offered by vendors; several of these companies have furnished additional sponsorships to help offset the cost of both the CHFM Workshop and the educational session. We are grateful for this extra support. Additional information and online registration can be found on the FHEA.org website. I encourage you to register for this event, if you have yet to do so. We have three goals for this year. The first goal is to increase the number of healthcare facilities’ active involvement in the organization. The addition of our peers allows all of us to provide a better patient experience and provide an effective environment of healing. The second goal is to provide educational programs to advance the general knowledge of our members. We need your input for education deficiencies. We will attempt to fill the needs which in turn will enhance our first goal. The third goal is to continue to increase the number of Certified Healthcare Engineer designations in the state. We have increased in recent years. However, there is room for growth. In closing, The Board of Directors and I wish you all a prosperous 2015. Your participation is the key to our success. Let your district officers know how we can be of better service. What educational offerings should we be looking for? I look forward to seeing as many as possible at the Spring Meeting.

NEWCOMPANY

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the untimely passing of FHEA member, S.P. “Skip” Marsh, CHE, on March 13, 2015. Skip, who served as state FHEA president in 1999, and perhaps even more notably as our state treasurer from 2002 through 2012, was a powerful and gifted steward of the association. He is survived by his wife, Jayedda.
