Volume III, Issue 6 October 5, 2016 Community Dear Families, I am pleased to share with you how amazing our staand students behaved and reacted during yesterday’s house fire on Evergreen Avenue. Quietly and quickly students left the lunch yard and secured themselves in the classrooms with closed doors and windows. All stawere poised, in command, and established a secure and safe environment. Although emergency ocials did not contact the school, I made every eort to connect with the EOC team to gather current information and to relay all communication with parents through email and staand students via our school’s internal PA system. Fortunately, Alameda County Fire responded swiftly. It has come to my attention that some of you may not have received the emails that I sent. I apologize for this oversight, if this is so it most likely means that your email is not in our school’s database. If you did not receive an email and wish to be included in our database please send an email to [email protected]. Safety Training Speaking of EOC, on Friday, October 21st, beginning at 1:30 p.m. we will practice our schoolwide safety/emergency drill. The drill is to help us as a community to prepare and practice our safety protocol, while keeping the students safe at all times, now and in the future. Information and schedule for the exercise will be coming soon. In the meantime, we need to update all of our emergency food supplies. Each classroom student is responsible to provide the assigned item (below) for our school community by Tuesday, October 18th. Classroom teachers will be given a class roster and be asked to mark oevery student who completes this service.
