From the Personal Representative . . . Welcome to 2011. This should be a

very exciting year for our Scottish

Rite. Since the last newsletter we have re-

viewed many areas and have had the

opportunity to revise and restructure some of our boards and committees.

Contained within this newsletter you

will find a list of the current committee

members. I would like to thank all of you for your input and support. For

those of you who are not presently on a

committee I want you to know that we still need your help and support. The

boards alone can only recommend ac-

tions, it takes the members to institute programs and create success within the

Rite.

The S.G.I.G. has impressed upon me

that the primary focus of our charitable efforts has and will continue to be the

Scottish Rite Language Centers. To

this end we will develop long range plans to help support the cooperative

efforts between the University of the

Pacific and the Scottish Rite. You can expect to begin hearing about upcom-

ing functions and fundraisers in sup-

port of our language center.

Each month I will focus on an individ-

ual program or brother who may have

something of particular interest to our

members. I will start with a program

that has been around for a short time.

This month I would like to introduce,

or re-introduce, the Master Craftsman

program. In this study program you

read an informative history of the Rite

and its ceremonies. Assignments are

accompanied by a short quiz and when

you have completed the studies you are

awarded a certificate and a lapel pin

signifying your accomplishment. The

assignments are not complicated and

you will find you enjoy the content as

you progress. The Studies are flexible

and you may study in groups or as an

individual. There is always someone

available to assist you if need be. If

you think you might be interested

please contact the general secretary for

more information. I am looking forward

to seeing all of you at the stated meet-

ing and dinner. .

From the Editor . . . . . At the request of the Per-

sonal Representative I am returning

to the position of Editor of the Rite

News. I feel privileged to be able to

serve our members in this endeavor.

In an attempt to make the

News more interesting, we will be

changing some of the things that

have become habit in the last few

years. The most important thing I

need to say to start with is; This is

your news letter!.

Please feel free to comment,

criticize or submit your own articles

for publication. Your opinion is im-

portant. This is your organization.

We, like all organizations have

elected and appointed members to

do the day to day work, but you, as

the membership, are the most impor-

tant part of the of the structure.

Without the input of the members

we have a a mob, not a structured

group that accomplishes our goals.

Your input and ideas are important.

Please feel free to let us know. All

suggestions, within budget limita-

tions and physical abilities, will be

considered. The office is open every

work day from 9 am to 5 pm for

your benefit.

FOR DONATING

January Stated Meeting Dinner

From the General Secretary . . . . . . . . Brethren,

The hard fact of life is that it is once again the beginning of the year and dues

are payable. As with most Masonic organizations, the Scottish Rite dues for

2011 became delinquent if not paid by January first.. Many members who

rely on their memories to get the dues paid on time find that one or more of

their commitments has not been met. How you check if you are current is

easy. Open your wallet and look at the cards within.. If the card says, "Paid

through 12/31/2011" then you have nothing else to do. You are good for the

year. If, on the other hand, you are not current, please contact the Secretary

of that organization. Aren't sure who to call? Call me and I will give you the

name and phone number to contact for most any Masonic group I am in the

office Monday thru Friday 9 to 5 and welcome your visit. Or, just phone

209/466-3391
