Throughout his ‘Rotary’ career David made a very valuable contribution to our Club as Treasurer and ensured we were well managed financially and our programs secure. David’s contribution to the Club and its commitment to Doing Good in the Community was acknowledged with the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow at the 2018 Changeover Dinner. An award so richly deserved. David’s battle with illness was long and tough but his resolve and positivity was inspirational. Equally inspirational was Denise’s love and support of David throughout his time with the Club and most particularly in recent times. I know our members will be with Denise in heart and mind moving forward. As soon as we become aware of the arrangements for David’s service I will be sure to inform the members and friends. As we move towards the festive season, the Club has a very busy calendar so please ensure you keep an eye on that calendar and be sure to assist those in organizational mode wherever and whenever they need. Since our last meeting I have been informed by Bernie that the Youth Insearch Gala Event preparations have not progressed as planned and so the format of the evening has been amended. The raffle has been cancelled and procedures put in place to manage this. The event has been downsized and the venue changed accordingly and will now be held at the Bairnsdale Football Club facility. It is always a challenge taking such an event and it is pleasing that Bernie and his team have been able to regroup and proceed with the event. If you have any queries …liaise with Bernie. Alan. MichaelreportedontheCouncilofResolutionsanddistributedalistandprintoutofthoseconsideredtodirectlyinvolveorbeofinteresttotheClubandinvitedmemberstorespondsothattheBoardmay‘vote’.
DarrenreportedonpreparationsfortheBohemianRhapsodyfilmnightscheduledforNovember1.Ticketsaleshavebeengoodwith a ‘sell out’ predicted. RCMRmembers are being asked to take along slices and savories for the pre-film nibbles andrefreshments. The Club is also asked to provide 3 prizes for the ‘lucky patron/s’ competition. It promises to be anothersuccessfuljointclubeventinsupportofEndPolioNow.AND…handsareneededforthepre-eventsetup.SeeDarrenaboutthat.
Debra reported on the NYSF preparations and howour representative Rachel Butler is excited about attending.With oursupportRachelisconductingafundraisingevent–afilmnightaimedatanaudienceofpeers–tooffsetthecosttoherfamily.Rachelisanimpressiveyoungpersonwhowillmakethemostofthisopportunityandwillshareherstorywithusuponherreturn.TheNYSF iscallingforRotarianvolunteerstobepartoftheeventandifyouarekeen…chatwithDebra.DebraalsoreportedthatwhilstRCMRdoesnothaveaRYLAcandidate,weareinfactsupportinganomineefromtheFrankstonRC.RJCApresentationswillbeheldon13th/14thNovemberattheBairnsdaleUnitingChurch.Debra’steamarealso investigatingthepossibilityofholdingaClusterminiMUNAeventintheareaearly2019withthepurposeofdevelopinginterestintheDistrictevent.
