He says, “The best thing about the school is his teach- ers and faculty; at PHS the teachers and my friends are all just one big happy family.” Kurt loves being a Pelham Hornet; he would not want to be anything else. Kurt’s advice to underclassmen is “A great guy once told me, it is not about how hard you get hit, its about how hard you get hit and keep coming back.” Good luck, Kurt on your path of life! Diana plans on going to ABAC in Tifton, GA after she graduates and wants to major in nursing and become a registered nurse. She hopes to later become an anesthesiologist. Diana says she enjoys being a Pelham Hornet because she has been one all her life. The best thing about Pelham High School, she says, is the senior slideshow and the pep rallies. In five years, Diana would like to be in Chicago because she says it is a nice place, and she would love to work there. Diana says it is a great feeling to be in the Hornet Spotlight because others get to know what she likes and what she wants to major in. Some advice she would give to underclassmen is, “Always do your work in class and always pay attention in class. Also, always attend class and make your grades as high as you can.” Best of luck, Diana!

Welcome, Stephen George Prothro, new addition to PHS’s Early Childhood teacher, Mrs.

Kathryn Prothro. Mrs. Prothro

says, “My heart has been stolen

once again by a boy, and I couldn't be happier in my life than I am right now. God is good in so many ways.” Congratulations,

Mr. and Mrs. Prothro!

Title 1 Volunteer Celebration

Introducing Stephen George Prothro

Carrie Nobles and Courtney Batchelor have been best friends since January of this year even though they have always been friends.

Something that Carrie loves about her best friend is that she freaks out a lot and helps her with every-

thing. Courtney likes that Carrie is always “straight up” with her. What Carrie does not like about Courtney is that she worries too

much, but Courtney loves every-thing about Carrie. They are hon-est with each other and like to

have fun no matter what they do. During their spare time, they like to have fun, especially during the

weekends when they are chilling with their friends.

Best Friends of the Week

Pets of the Week

This week’s Pet of the Week is Halie Singleton’s Black Lab, Bella. Halie loves how hyper and playful Bella is. That is what

makes Bella the special dog that she is!

You are invited to join us on May 6, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the Pelham Ele-

mentary School Cafeteria for this year's Volunteer Celebration, Title 1

Spring Meeting & Art Show! We would like to recognize our wonderful Pelham City School Volunteers for the 2013-2014 school year and award the "PCS Volunteer of the Year.” We will enjoy entertainment

from the PHS Hornet Idol, Pelham's Got Talent "Crowd Favorite,” St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Children's Choir, and PES Student Dylan Howell as student performers! We will also have a drawing for door prizes, refreshments, and enjoy the best of our Pelham City School

Artists! We hope that you will join us!

Our second pet belongs to Kristen Whitfield. How precious

is her Golden Lab, Allie! She does not have pup-pies—Allie has kittens!

This is unconditional love! Kristen says her cats have always been attracted to her dog, and Allie does

not seem to mind. They all get along with each other really well.

PHS Beta Club Supports Kids Against Hunger Today, the PHS Beta Club members are busy making meals to

send all over the world to

help those in need. Each semester this club gives their time and energy to

help others less fortunate. They made 28,944 meals to

be sent all over the world to those in need. As always, the Beta Club exceeded its previ-

ous number of meals made. Good Job, Beta members and sponsors, Ms. Wingate and Ms. Wilkins.

Year Book Slide Show

Mrs. Prince and the PHS Yearbook Staff created a remarkable slide show for the students, faculty, and community. For an hour on Wednesday, everyone in the PHS gym was entertained with songs and slides from the past school year. Baby pictures paired with Senior pictures are always the

crowd favorite, and this year two special tributes went to Mrs. Karen Culbreth and Asst. Supt. Willie Jenkins who are both retiring. The first year-book went to a very special supporter of the PHS school system, as well as the Pelham community. This year’s PHS yearbook is dedicated to Mrs. Lorenda Smith. Congratulations!

Friday, April 25th, Pelham Hornets played Berrien County for their last game. They didn’t come out with a win, but they fought until the

end. It was also senior night for Ryan Faircloth, Allen Futch, Joel Barrios, Brett McDowell, and Claye McCook. We have enjoyed watch-ing these boys play throughout their high school career. We wish you

guys the best of luck in everything you do! Congratulations on a great s season Hornets!
