Dear OASFiSians:
Thank you for issue 303 of the Event Horizon. Once again, I will
try to write up some comments on what I see in this particular
issue. Always a challenge, clubzines cater to the member rather
than the casual reader, but here goes anyway.
If there’s any convention down where you are I’d like to go to,
it’s the International Convention of the Fantastic in the Arts, or
ICFA. I met Neil Gaiman in at the Worldcon in Montreal in
2009, and it would be great to renew acquaintances. He doesn’t
get to Toronto often enough.

The first Hobbit movie…I did enjoy it, didn’t think it was too
long(it went by fairly quickly, anyway), but thought that with the
book originally meant for a child, the book might not yield three
movies. The judges, all of us, are still deciding it, but if the
schedule could be amended so that we wouldn’t have to wait a
full year for the second movie… It’s unfair that we are compar-
ing this movie and its upcoming successors to the Lord of the
Rings movies we all loved.
My letter…the Toronto Tea Festival was a surprisingly good
time, and the Murdoch Mysteries lunch was well attended. We
may be going to a formal spring tea east of Toronto next
month…assuming it’s warm enough to do so.
That’s all for now…off to you asap, and see you with the next
issue.
Yours, Lloyd Penney.

Dear OASFiSians:
Thank you for issue 303 of the Event Horizon. Once again, I will
try to write up some comments on what I see in this particular
issue. Always a challenge, clubzines cater to the member rather
than the casual reader, but here goes anyway.
If there’s any convention down where you are I’d like to go to,
it’s the International Convention of the Fantastic in the Arts, or
ICFA. I met Neil Gaiman in at the Worldcon in Montreal in
2009, and it would be great to renew acquaintances. He doesn’t
get to Toronto often enough.

That’s all for now…off to you asap, and see you with the next
issue.
Yours, Lloyd Penney.
