Vista Grande Villa Classic Car Show Vista Grande Villa will be hosting a classic car show on Friday, August 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
There is a suggested donation of $5 to $10 for each car that is registered for the car show. A raffle drawing will be held with tickets being sold 10 for $10. Dinner will also be made available at the car show for $5 per person.
Be sure to bring your lawn chair as there will be musical entertainment for all to enjoy. This will also be a fun event for grandchildren as there will be face-painting for the kiddos!
Library Book Talk Book lover’s take note: August 8th at 2 p.m. there will be a book talk in the VGV library led by Liz Swartzel. This one will be special because all the books she will review are in large print. Since publishers do not put brand new books into large print, the titles to be discussed have been around for a while, but now they are available in this popular format. You may not realize it, but Liz never reviews a book she has not read. We are lucky to have such a dedicated library committee member!
The library wishes to thank those of you who have donated books. Sometimes a donated book is a copy of one we already have on the shelves but if that is the case, the committee passes the books on to a group who will put them to good use.
Remember, the library is open 24-7! Should you ever need help, come by between 2 and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday when a library committee member will be on hand to assist you.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.” Matthew 5:9 God wants to be at peace with us. Jesus came that we might have peace with God. He brought peace where there was nothing but enmity. The word used in the passage above for peacemakers is not simply the idea of a person of a peaceable nature. It is not used to speak of those who passively sit on the sidelines to avoid strife. A peacemaker is one who actively desires to bring peace where there has only been enmity. This person does just as Christ did. Jesus stepped into the ugliness of a world ruled by greed, self-ishness, and every other sinful attitude of the heart and gave his life so that an ungrateful world could have peace with God. If we too are willing to give our lives to strive for peace, we will be called children of God. Take some time to think about whether you are actively striving to be a peacemaker or if you are just sitting on the sideline. The effort it takes to be a peacemaker is well worth the title, “child of God”.
