Dallas, Texas-In these days

when you have to stretch your

dollars as far as you can let me

recommend the new Hyundai

Santa Fe Sport FWD 2.4. We are

talking about a vehicle that gets

29 miles per gallon. We want

you to know we are talking

about room, style and economy

as well as good quality pricing.

We took this vehicle to Dallas

and rounded out about 600 miles

and still managed to save a few

dollars as well. We didn’t have

to stop for fuel nor were we

empty when got to big D. When

it comes to comfort we were

impressed with the new Santa Fe

because it was pleasantly more

room than the previous models.

Over the years Hyundai has put

together a much better product

as a co-worker of mine has the

smaller model and he is truly

impressed with it as it hits 30

thousands trouble free miles.

The new Santa Fe also has

America’s best warranty with

five-year/60,000 mile New

Vehicle warranty with 10-

year/100,000 mile power train

warranty along with seven-

year/unlimited mile anti-perfora-

tion warranty and throw in five-

year/unlimited mile roadside

assistance. Now that’s standing

behind your product!

Our Moonstone Silver vehicle

with gray interior was a head

turner during our week long trip.

With 53% of its products from

Korea and 47 from the United

States and Canada, the Santa Fe

has the best of both worlds. Both

engine and transmission are U S

built with the final assembly

point in West Point, Georgia.

Hyundai reports over a five year

period estimate owners could

save up to $600 over other new

vehicles. We can safely say it

saved us around $60.00 on our

trip. The 2.4 liter gasoline direct

injection engine is four-cylinder

and cranks out 190 horsepower

at 6300 RPM and 181 lbs per

foot of torque at 4250 RPM.

This engine is mated to a six-

speed automatic transmission

with shift tronic and active eco

system.

Inside you are treated to soft

stain resistance cloth seats with

40/20/40 split folding rear seats.

The instrument cluster is filled

with easy to read normal size

gauges and the knobs are right at

the driver’s finger tips. There is

every driver selectable steering

modes and steering wheel

mounted cruise, audio and phone

controls. The steering wheel is

tilt telescopic which is some-

thing else you expect to see on a

more expensive SUV. Let us not

forget we are talking about just

over $26,000 here.

When it comes to safety we

remind you the new Hyundai has

Vehicle stability Program along

with electronic stability control

with traction control with ABS

and electronic brake force distri-

bution and brake assist as well.

Remember we are speaking

about a vehicle that barely hits

$25,000 now.

Sounds comes from an

AM/FM/CD/MP3 with iPod and

USB ports with aux inputs com-

plete with 90-day free trial of

Sirius Satellite radio and capa-

bility for Bluetooth with hands

free phone setup as well.

There are very few options on

this vehicle; fact is they totaled

only $825.00 including heated

exterior mirrors and power driv-

er seat with lumbar support and

leather wrapped steering wheel

and gear shift knob to name a

few.

In closing please allow me to

add it also had roof side rails

and fog lamps as a couple of

those options. But at $26,000

you owe it to yourself to check it

out before you buy!

The 2013 Santa Fe Sport FWD 2.4 a lot of vehicle for the money

Page 3: Vol. XV No. 151

One of the first Japanese vehi-

cles to make it big in America is

getting more and more American

these days. The Accord 2 door

EX-L with a V6 is finally

assembled in Marysville, Ohio.

Plus 65% of its parts are from

the United States and Canada

with only 25% of its parts actu-

ally coming from Japan. Fact is

the new 278 horsepower 3.5

Liter SOHC 24-valve I-VTEC

V6 Earth Dreama with Variable

cylinder management engine is

built right in the US while the

six-speed automatic transmission

is built in Japan. This equates

into 21 miles in the city and 32

miles per gallon on the highway.

Power rolls to the pavement on

P235/45R 18-All season tires

circulating around 18 inch alloy

wheels.

The new Accord has paddler

shifters, 4-wheel disc brakes and

front Macpherson strut suspen-

sion with rear multi-link suspen-

sion. Throw in electric power

assist rack and pinion steering

and front and rear stabilizer bars.

As always the new Accord has a

long list of safety features that

includes driver side and front

passengers dual stage airbags

along with side airbags with

smart vent and side curtain

airbags with rollover sensors. It

even has forward collision warn-

ing but the thing that caught my

eye was when you put on the

right turn signal it actives the

rear side rear view mirror as if

it’s a backup camera and clearly

shows you into the next two

lanes. That is excellent for pass-

ing because it gives you a full

view up close without ever turn-

ing your head. Another first for

Honda as the Accord continues

to remain at the top of affordable

vehicles worldwide.

You already come to expect

good sounds from your Honda

Accord and this baby delivers

the goods. This unit is equipped

with a 360-watt

AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio touch

screen system with seven speak-

ers and steering wheel mounted

controls adding to your listening

pleasure, plus XM satellite

radio. The list of audio feature

continues with Bluetooth Hands

Free link and Pandora Internet

radio interface, USB audio inter-

face.

Our test vehicle came with a

price tag of just over $33,000

and only a couple of option.

This baby is basically standard

equipment from top to bottom

and is still one of the worlds’

finest automobiles.

In a day and time when most of

the world automakers are assem-

bling their products on American

soil, the Mazda 6 I Grand

Touring is still Japanese built.

The all-new 2014 with Skyactiv

Mazda 6 has 90% of its parts

from Japan including the engine

and transmission. The final

assembly point is Hofu, Japan

and this makes it one of our

country’s more complete

imports.

Our test vehicle came in a bright

Soul Red with Almond interior

and is powered by a G 2.5L

DOHC four-cylinder engine that

generates 184 horsepower with

185 lbs per foot of torque. The

engine is mated to a Skyactiv

Drive six-speed auto transmis-

sion. This combination produces

26 miles in the city and 38 on

the highway with a combine

mileage of 30 miles per gallon.

Fact is during our weeklong test

we only used slightly more than

a quarter of a tank of fuel.

With front wheel drive, the

Mazda 6 I Grand Touring grips

the road well and takes off like

you are going somewhere in a

hurry. The power smoothly

transforms to the pavement on P

225/R19” All Season tires makes

for a quality ride. Four-wheel

disc brakes bring this baby to a

swift and smooth stop.

Warranties include a bumper to

bumper 36 month/36,000 mile

warranty along with a 60 month/

60,000 mile power train warran-

ty along with 24-hour roadside

assistance.

Once you are inside the new

Mazda 6 you are treated to an

eight-way heated power driver

seat and a four-way heated

power front passenger seat. Plus

heated power outside mirrors

with auto dimming feature and

the inside rearview mirror is also

auto dimming. With a 5.8”

color touch screen you can con-

trol everything from the center

of the vehicle instrument cluster.

The Bose Sound system with 11

speakers gives you the feel of a

concern hall as you drive down

the road. USB audio input and

HD radio, Bluetooth hands free

phone along with a trip comput-

er to boot. The steering wheel is

leather wrapped and has mount-

ed controls.

On the safety side the new

Mazda comes with a full array

of airbags including front and

rear side curtains. Skyactiv Body

Ring Structure and rear cross

traffic alert rounds out the safe-

ty.

In closing please allow me to

add the Mazda 6 came with a

price tag of over $31,000,

immmm not bad!

Our King-Size Mover and

Shaker for the month May is

Julian Kaleb Gomez. Julian is

an extremely bright student/ath-

lete enrolled in the Vanguard

Program at Hamilton M.S.

At Hamilton M.S., Julian plays

football and is a member of the

track team. During my interview

of Julian, he stated that “he is

just like any other middle school

student, except he has to work

really hard to maintain his

grades and participate in sports”.

He enjoys going to the movies

and hanging out with his friends

at the malls.

Julian comes from a family of

athletes; his father is a fitness

trainer and former boxer. I asked

him what he liked about being

in the Vanguard Program at

Hamilton M.S. and he stated

that “his teachers and other

adults were kind and really care

about their progress”. He added

that “he has a lot of friends and

mentors at Hamilton M.S. but,

his biggest hero is his dad”.

When I asked him about his

future plans he stated that, “he

plans to go to USC and play

football for the Trojans”. He

also hopes to become a profes-

sional athlete or a famous Chef.

Over the next few months I

want to take you through, a high

level view of, a foundation

building exercise. This exercise

is not intended to be a secret

formula to leadership or success,

but yet is meant to be the spark

that unlocks the unlimited power

that is inside of you right now,

as you read this article. Once

this power begins to emerge,

leadership and success will be

the branches spawn from the

roots embedded within this

power.

These upcoming articles will

become your articles. These

writings will spark thought that

will become your writings,

therefore becoming your own

motivation in your own words.

You are the instrument of your

success and no one or nothing

on this earth can replace you in

your role as a person who can

make things happen for your life

and the lives of your family.

This foundation will require of

you to work toward complete

health, which I define as the

ability to change your condition

and the condition of the environ-

ment around you. Complete

health is a never-ending trip of

hills and mountains that cannot

start until you make a complete

excavation of your life, as you

know it. Be prepared to put

down the past (but never forget)

and pick up goals and the

knowledge of “YOU”. You are

great! there is no doubt about

this, but your greatness is yours,

only yours and can’t be com-

pared to anyone else’s success.

I will also talk about the only

two issues that will derail you in

this process. These two issues

present big obstacles and this is

because we figure out ways to

disguise them into smaller less

significant problems like “It

takes to long to learn” or “This

looks hard” or “What if I don’t

succeed” or “What will people

think” OR! OR! OR! OR!

This journey will hint at life

altering results because you will

begin to uncover misconceptions

that have held you at the starting

line waiting for the word go. If

you took time to read this arti-

cle, I believe that your focus is

already there. Now let the

Journey begin.

I have driven by it hundreds of

times. Every day as I pass down-

town I take a look and wonder

what it is and why it is there.

The best way to see it is while

heading east on I-10 just past the

railroad overpass and just before

I-45 take look to the left. You

will see four 20 foot tall busts

with the caption “A TRIBUTE

TO AMERICAN STATESMAN-

SHIP” on the bases. At first

glance I thought it was a repro-

duction of Mount Rushmore,

which I had the honor of view-

ing the year I graduated from

High School.

Take a closer look, though, and

you will realize that only two of

the statesmen are from the

mountainside in South Dakota.

The first is President and father

of our country, George

Washington is on the left. His

contribution to our way of life is

obvious.

Next to Washington is the image

of Abraham Lincoln. Possibly

one of our greatest Presidents

and statesmen, Lincoln is credit-

ed with freeing the slaves and

authored of the greatest speeches

we had to memorize in High

School including the Gettysburg

Address and the Emancipation

Proclamation.

On the real Mount Rushmore,

the two other images are of

Teddy Roosevelt and Thomas

Jefferson. David Adickes, cre-

ator of the Statesmanship Park

had other ideas. He included

Stephen F Austin and Sam

Houston. Any Texas should

know that Austin is considered

the Father of Texas. He was

appointed to be the first

Secretary of State when Texas

achieved statehood in 1836, but

only served for two months

before he died. Austin, a native

Virginian, is credited with early

colonization of the eastern part

of our great state.

The final bust in the park is that

of whom our city is named for;

Sam Houston. Houston defeated

Mexican General Santa Anna at

San Jacinto. He later went on to

become the first governor of

Texas. Originally from

Tennessee, Houston earned his

place in history for his contribu-

tion our state and city.

The plot of land, which is diffi-

cult to locate on Bingham Street

and Elder Drive, appears to be

the site of an old industrial

building. The foundation and a

couple of staircases remain are

all that remain of the former use.

The land was donated to

Precinct 2 by Christopher

LaPorte. Parks Commissioner

Gilbert Smith led the movement

to rename the plot “AMERI-

CAN STATESMENSHIP

PARK.”

Houstonian David Adickes, 83,

created and donated the busts

valued at $100,000 and the land

has a value of $87,000. The

good will of this park is invalu-

able to our city. Even through

the official name of the park is

American Statesmanship Park, it

quickly became known as

MOUNT RUSH HOUR.

Although the park is not much

to see in person, it is a wonder-

ful sight to drive by or to show

to our of town visitors.

Ironically, one of the best times

to view the park from the free-

way is when traffic is backed up

during the morning rush.

Adickes is known for many

other local icons. If you have

ever taken I-45 north to

Huntsville, you have seen one of

his most famous works, the 67

foot tall statute of Sam Houston

on a 10 foot high base at the

side of the freeway. This is pos-

sibly the tallest statute of an

American Hero and has its own

visitor’s center which is free to

the public. The huge violin in

front of the Lyric Center is

another work of Adickes. In

addition, he has a studio at 2500

Summer Street off Taylor just

south of I-10 near the downtown

Target store. There are many

works in progress including

busts of all our presidents. The

most recent addition is that of

President Obama. In addition

there are four 30 foot replicas of

the Beatles in full Magical

Mystery Tour regalia. The out-

door studio is free to visit and

open most days.

If you have a chance, check out

the works of Adickes either on

the freeways or at his studio. It

will give you a real appreciation

for what one man with a hufe

creative talent can do.

Born in Bigelow Arkansas and

his family moved to Kansas City

Kansas Oliver “Show” Brown

would go to make history. After

graduating from Sumner High

School he and longtime child-

hood from Coach Leroy

Breedlove moved to Houston to

attend Texas Southern

University. He competed in track

and field as well as football

where he was one of the cap-

tains on the 1952 National

Championship team. While at

TSU “Show” Brown as his

friends called him met Ramona

Morgan. Then he was drafted in

the U.S. Army and serving in the

Korean War then returned to

Houston. It was then on

December 28, 1955 he and

Morgan were married. The cou-

ple bought their first home in

Riverside Terrace section of

Houston’s Historic Third Ward.

A daughter (Tselane) was born

of this union.

Following a couple of years

coaching in La Marque Texas

Brown returned to Houston in

1959 and worked the City of

Houston Summer Parks and

Recreation program teaching

swimming. Soon after that he

took over as track coach at

Worthing High school. It was

there Brown made his lifelong

mark at one point winning 23

straight district championships.

Coaching the likes of Oakland

Raiders-Clifford Branch, and

Chicago-Mike Singletary to

name a couple of great ones is

an indication of what coach

Brown had to offer. But the

most important thing coach

Brown did was teach the proper

techniques that some runners

still use today. Fact is Debra

Edward went the Olympic

games in Munich Germany in

1972 and Brown was there help-

ing raising funds from donars in

the Galleria area to pay for

Debra’s mother to make the trip.

Dennis Brantley still holds the

state record in the 110 hurdles

since 1980 and he was following

the advice of Brown when he set

that mark.

Please don’t be misled by

Brown's donation on the track

field; he was still one of the

strongest supporters of education

in the classroom. He believed in

tough love and carried what he

called the board of education

with him and would not hesitate

to put it on his students behind.

After which he always encour-

aged them to do better because

he knew they had it in them.

Brown retired from coaching

and teaching in 1998 but contin-

ued to tutor math students at

Wesley AME Church where he

served as Men’s Day committee

trustee.

In his spare time Brown worked

with long time friend and col-

league James “Bo” Humphery

and helped to build the PVILCA

of which he was honored in their

Hall of Fame.

In all the years of being around

Coach Brown we can safely say

we never heard him say any-

thing bad about anyone and he

always looked for what was best

even in bad situations.

On Saturday May 10, 2013

Brown was laid to rest in Forest

Park Lawndale in Houston,

Texas but his memories will live

forever in the hearts and minds

of the people he came in contact

I ran into a very interesting story

as I was thinking about my col-

umn for this month. I was not

aware this event had taken place

and I'm sure many of you

weren't either. The photo was

attached to a story about a for-

mer athlete, surrounded by his

former coach and athletic direc-

tor upon his graduation from

thier institution. Now just a

minute Big John this story

grabbed your attention; young

people graduate all the time-

what does that have to do with

anything. Well the young man

was former James Madison and

University of Texas star Vince

Young and he was flanked by

his former coach Mack Brown

and athletic director Deloss

Dodds. Young was celebrating

what he called his 'biggest victo-

ry' graduating from the

University of Texas. Yes Young

completed his degree require-

ments and accomplished his goal

of graduating from college.

Young stated this goal was big-

ger than winning the national

championship. "I promised my

mother I would graduate from

college and I kept my word to

her". To parents reading my col-

umn never forget what a college

athletic scholarship is about; to

complete an education and grad-

uate! We forget the real reason

why accepting that offer to

attend the university in the first

place. Athletic talent is a fleeting

thing. It doesn't last forever. It's

here today and can be gone

today. But by taking your educa-

tion seriously a person opens

doors to a world of oppurtunities

that are closed to so many peo-

ple. Maybe after all the major

eyes were opened to him. His

athletic talent may provide him

one more chance in the National

Football League; maybe it won't.

But by getting his degree his life

can reach new levels he didn't

see before. He can inspire young

athletes that will encourage them

to not only dream of goals in life

but to push themselves both

physically and mentally. I

remember how I felt when I

graduated from college. I felt I

finally had done something. I

was thankful to God for standing

with me. My family and close

friends were apart of the cele-

bration and seeing the tears of

joy in my mother's eyes was

something that I can still feel

even five years later after her

death. It was a day I will never

forget. It was a lot of hard work,

sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears.

Walking across that stage and

being given that piece of paper, I

didn't think about all that. I'm

sure Young felt the same way.

Parents-push your young sons

and daughters. Thank God for

their athletic abilities, but

remind them their ultimate goal

os to graduate. Make them

promise that the victory in the

classroom is just as big as the

one on the field.

Vince Young is a hero in every

sense of the word. He did some-

thing so many of us fail to do.

He completed what he stated.

His wide smile told the whole

story. That big victory will last a

lifetime.

That's just the way I see it!

DAYE SHON ROBERSON

WHEATLEY

Austin, Texas-In the girls 400

meters state championship race

it was Wheatley’s Daye Shon

Roberson in a time of 54.50 tak-

ing the gold medal. The

Oklahoma bound senior went on

to team with Takyera Roberson

(her sister), Ashley Howard and

Alia Duncan to win the 4 by 100

meter title in a time of 46.66.

But before all this she had

already placed second in the

long jump with a leap of 18 feet

8 and one-half inches. Before

her night was done Roberson

had teamed with Chanta Gosby.

Alia Duncan and her sister

Takyera to place second in the

mile relay. Funny it was Dallas

Lancaster who got first and tied

Wheatley for the title at 58

points. We visited with the

exciting young lady a few days

later on Wheatley's campus. “I

started out running the 200 as

my favorite and my coaches told

me that if I were to run the 400

it would make me strong and it

would stretch my ability to run”.

Well it worked because she went

on to become state champion in

the open quarter. “They taught

me to basically coach myself as

I ran and if you can do the 400

meters you can run any other

race”. Earlier on Roberson said

Coach Marion Lewis made a

great decision about where to

place her in events and she sim-

ply went out and followed his

lead and won meets. But it did-

n’t start out that way because

Coach Lewis put them in tough

meets and sometimes they

would finish last a few years

ago. “When we were getting

beat we never gave up; we kept

saying maybe if we work harder

we’ll get them next time and

before you knew it we were

winning those meets and the

other girls we respecting us on

the track”.

The future is bright for

Roberson who has agreed to

attend Oklahoma University in

Norman, Oklahoma this fall.

She plans to study Physical

Therapy and Health Education

and Science. “People need

health care these days and I’m

thinking about massage therapy

because I have magic hands”.

After the state run by the Lady

Wildcats, they are getting a little

more respect on campus these

days. “Well everyone thinks of

Wheatley as a basketball or foot-

ball school well that’s fine but

the girls track team is co-state

champs now”. “We live in a

world where men are suppose to

be king but females are making

a mark regardless if anyone is

paying attention and I think it’s

great that the Wheatley girls are

track state champions. We agree

with Roberson and there are

those of us who are paying

attention to their success and

writing about it as well.

Congratulations are certainly in

order for the Lady Wildcats and

we know as well alumnus like

Big Horace Roberts was right

there cheering them on.

Roberson went on to add many

people who went on to become

famous attended Wheatley High

School. She named former con-

gresswoman Barbara Jordan and

you can add two-time heavy-

weight champ George Foreman

and the award winning writer

the late Bud Johnson to name a

few.

TAYLOR BENNETT-SPRING

Austin, Texas-In one of the most

interesting showing at the Mike

A Myers Track and Field com-

plex on the campus of UT-

Austin was the running of soph-

omore Taylor Bennett from

Spring high school. Bennett

pushed Rushell Harvey of Fort

Bend Bush in the girls 200

meters placing second in a time

of 23.77 just behind Harvey who

defended her state title with a

23.58. But the same girls placed

third in the girls 100 meters also

won by Rushell Harvey in a

time of 11.57. Judy Emeodi of

Round Rock McNeil got second

in a time of 11.73 while the

every present Taylor ran a close

11.65. Less than a tenth of a sec-

ond separated the three girls.

Bennett who is just getting her

feet wet is poise to do great

things for Spring the coming

years.

We talked with the outstanding

sophomore about her efforts and

female athletic in general as

well. “Yes sir I feel we are

building a strong girl track and

field team at Spring high

school”. When asked what’s

going on at Spring these days

Bennett said it’s simply a matter

of girls following great coaches

instructions and working hard to

get the job done. “We are a hard

working group of girls and we

know what we want and we are

going after it”.

On the subject of Women sports

getting their fair share of the

market as it relates to what the

men are getting. In this the 40th

year of chapter nine a bill forc-

ing Universities to give the same

funding to women sports as they

do for men athletics. “Oh yes sir

I think girls work much harder

than the boys do and that’s the

way we see it is girls are simply

more dedicated to their sports”.

The well spoken sophomore

went on to add she feels women

sports have been under the mat

for so long and now that a little

attention is shown their way

they are willing work even hard-

er.

Please allow me to add we have

always been for giving female

athletes their just due and it is a

fact they sometimes put more

into their perspective sports than

the fellows do. I’m amazed at

the manner in which our female

stars go about their business of

working hard and allowing their

work to speak for itself. So a

word to the wise would be fel-

low you all had better get it

together because it’s safe to say

female athletes are gaining on

your very fast!

Over the years covering some of

the state finest student we at

King Arthur’s Productions and A

King-size View News paper are

proud to present this edition of

the Fiesta Student of the Week.

She is the dynamic, lovely and

talented Miss Wheatley who is

holding a 4.3 Grade Point aver-

age and graduating number two

in her class. The award winning

senior loves Science and Math

best in class because of her pas-

sion for solving problems. “It’s

challenging to find solutions and

the exploration is the most fun I

find in science experiments are

problem solving in math”.

The charming daughter of Debra

Tauriac and Jimmy Fields is

headed to Stephen F. Austin this

fall to study and become a

Physical Therapist with an inter-

est in sports medicine. “That’s

where the money is and it’s a

growing profession and plus

Stephen F. Austin has one of the

nation’s top programs there”.

Fields went on to say she is

among the 18 students who will

receive an internship and have

the opportunity to actually work

at a health clinic while attending

classes. The on-hand experience

is certainly going to be an extra

bonus for the young lady who is

ready to challenge the world. “I

would say I’m an intelligent

young woman with a full head

of steam and ready to move to

the next level".

The Obama factor is a good

thing according to Fields. “Oh I

think it’s great he’s the first

African American President

because it gives hope to all

black Americans that we too can

hold the highest office in the

land. I actually attended the

Presidential Inauguration”.

In her spare time Kelsea loves to

dance and was a part of

Wheatley’s dance team.

When asked about the school

spirit Fields says it’s about a six

on a scale of 1 to 10 and she

sites administration as the reason

why. “To be honest with you sir,

I just don’t feel we had enough

pep rallies and things of that sort

to get our students involved and

that points to the administra-

tion”. We moved on to asked

Fields if she were the principal

what would she do to correct

these things. “First of all too

many students spend too much

time chilling; we need more pro-

grams to get more students

involved and to help keep

Wheatley’s tradition alive and

well.

On the subject of doing anything

different if she could live her life

over Fields had an interesting

answer. “I have no regrets and

don’t go around living in the

past. I make the most of oppor-

tunities put before me”.

Speaking of opportunities

Kelsea is the second Fields to

become Miss Wheatley; her sis-

ter Chelsea did the honors two

years ago. “When I was running

for the title I talked with all stu-

dents and that’s what you have

to do in order to hold this title”.

On Sundays you’ll find Kelsea

over at Lyon Unity Church

where she says set the tone for

her life a long time ago. “It

keeps me grounded and it gives

me the strength to live a good

quality life”. Kelsea is an usher

at the church as well.

Her most driving force in life is

her mother Debra and Fields

explained. “Oh clearly it’s my

Mom and she has always been

right there and each time I was

even thinking about going out of

line she was right there to make

sure I didn’t and I love her for

that”. We want to commend the

Fields for doing a fine job of

keeping this young lady on the

right track!

In closing please allow me to

add Kinesiology is a growing

field and we know Kelsea will

do very well in it!

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

graduating number 2 in herClass -Photo by Chris Banks

Austin, Texas-Not since the days

of the great Dominique Duncan

has so much attention has been

focused on Wheatley girls track

program. Well the Lady

Wildcats are at it again as 4th

year head coach Marion Lewis

has gotten these girls to co-state

champions as they tied Dallas

Lancaster with 58 points for the

girls’ Class 4A title. Lewis is a

graduate of C.E. King who later

played football and ran track at

Texas A&M Kingsville before

getting a job in Corporate

America. When he took over

the girls track program at

Wheatley High School there

were only two girls out for track.

Being the dedicated person he is

Lewis begin scanning the halls

trying to find girls who wanted

to go out for track. Now four

year years later he took five girls

to state and they came home

with the school’s first UIL title.

Having won titles in the PVIL in

the old days, the track program

at Wheatley has a very storied

past. Fact is back in 1954

Wheatley won the PVIL state

title in football, basketball, base-

ball and track.

When asked what was his key to

success Lewis who is assisted by

Ernest Caswell and Andrea Neal

said he put his girls in some of

the best meets he could find.

“We finished dead last in those

meets in our first two years but

it taught our girls to go against

the best and work hard to get

better”. Lewis admitted it was a

long winding road to state and

he knew he had a good group of

girls coming back at the start of

this season but he just wasn’t

sure he could get the mindset of

his running to think they were

the best team. “We explained to

our kids they need to be mature

and develop a winning attitude

and that’s when we started win-

ning races on the track”.

Facing the great Dallas

Lancaster at the state meet

Lewis knew of their background

and he knew his girls would

have to be ready for the chal-

lenge. “Man I’ve been around

track for a while now and I

knew the history of Lancaster

and they would probably be 20

deep and have a girl in almost

every event”. But Lewis knew

his girls were good in their

respective events just like

Lancaster so they ended up tied.

“My only hope was to have

another race and break that tie”.

Starting out for Lewis was not

easy to say the least. “Coming

here I felt I had something to

offer but only one girl (Victoria

Livingston) was coming back

and she’s at the University of

Texas now on an academic

scholarship, but I knew if I got

some girls to just come out I

would get them to work hard

and develop a program here at

Wheatley High School”. Getting

to work Lewis found Daye Shon

Roberson and Chanta Gosby on

the softball field and begin

building a program with those

two girls three years ago and a

couple transfers moved in.

Lewis still admitted he didn’t

expect to win the state title in

such a short time.

In closing Lewis added he feels

a coach should build a program

and train the talent. “We feel

our staff took kids who were los-

ing races and coached them to

win those same races and thats

what I feel a coaching staff is

suppose to do”. We agree and

Lewis and his staff have done a

marvelous job with the Wheatley

Lady Wildcats state champions!

Austin, Texas-With the right

frame of mind the Lady

Wildcats of Wheatley High

School held on all night until

they has a share of the state’s

Class 4A championship. They

tied the great Dallas Lancaster

with 58 points to bring back

their first University

Interscholastic League title to

Houston, Texas. Led by the

Oklahoma bound senior Daye

Shon Roberson, Wheatley got

the job done. Roberson started

the ball rolling when she placed

second in the long jump, then

won the open quarter in a time

of 54.50 well ahead of the field

for 10 more points. The Lady

Wildcats added 20 more points

when Roberson joined his sister

Takyera, Ashley Howard and

Alia Duncan and rolled to a

46.66 to take the 4 by 100 meter

relay. That set the stage for the

mile relay and it was Dallas

Lancaster with A’Driana

Berthaulter, Taylor Rockwell,

Alicia Harris and Alexis Flores

doing their thing in a time of

3.46.50 to get the 20 point prize.

Wheatley ran Daye Shon

Roberson, Chanta Gosby, Alia

Duncan and Takyera Roberson

and came in second in a time of

3.49.55 leaving both schools

with 58 points as the meet came

to an end. Dallas Lancaster has

been a force in the track and

field meet for many years win-

ing the state title something like

15 times in the last 23 years or

so. It was great to see Houston

Wheatley make a name for

themselves by staying on the

track with them time and time

again.

De Soto repeated as Class 5A

champions with a meet total of

71 points while League City

Clear Springs and Garland tied

for second with 36 points. De

Soto got their points from all the

over the track and taking a lot of

second and third places as their

points grew from event to event.

Taking second in the mile relay

with a 3.46.08 with Camry

Grigsby, Adrian Parker, Makayla

Earnheart and Shapporia

Montgomery did the honors for

De Soto. Clear Springs won the

event as Jenna Simpson, Ericka

Rodriguez, Aria Kelly and

Tiffany Terry did the honor.

Klein Forest took third place in

the event. Cedar Hill took the

girls 4 by 200 meters in a tie of

1.37.37 with T’Shunique

Hamilton, Dawnshae Evans,

ShaiNia Williams and Danyel

White taking the title. Garland

grabbed second as Laticia

Mapps, Chellane Jones, Candace

Coleman and Quetta Mapps took

center stage. But once again it

was De Soto taking third place

and grabbing another 12 points.

In the 4 by 100 meter relay

Garland took center stage but

once again it was De Soto taking

second and pulling in 16 more

points.

The best in the long run with to

Katie Willard of The Woodlands

in the 800 meters in a time of

2.09.32 as she defended her state

title. Aaliyah Miller of

McKinney Boyd got second and

Tiffany Terry of Clear Springs

took third place. In the girls

Class 5A 1600 meter run

Courtney Kriegshauser of

Southlake Carroll took the title

in a time of 4.51.10 as the

Woodlands Madi McLellan

came in second with a time of

4.53.25. Sandie Raines of

Kingwood set a new Class 5A

State record in the 3200 meters

with a 10.13.81.

Killen Shoemaker picked up

some points as Cion Hicks won

the disc throw with a 160-06

toss of the saucer and she tossed

the big ball 47.9.00 to claim the

shot put title in girl’s class 5A

also.

Fort Bend Austin got it the win

column as Bria Druilhet won the

triple jump with a bounce of 40-

11.50 and low and behold De

Soto got second as Paetyn

Revell got second place. In Girls

class 5A high jump it was

Makenzie Smajstrla of Manvel

in a leap of 5 feet 8 inches and

Latyria Jefferson of Desoto

claimed third place in this even

getting six more points. In the

long jump it was Bre’Yana Wash

of Dallas Skyline with a leap of

20-01.75 and Anna Robinson of

De Soto took second place gath-

ering in eight more points. To

close out the Class 5A girls

totals Spring got fourth with 34

points and Cedal Hill tallied 32

for fifth while Fort Bend Bush

claimed 6th with 24 points. Most

of which came from sprinter

Rushell Harvey who won the

200 meters I a time of 23.58 just

ahead of Taylor Bennett of

Spring. The LSU bound Harvey

walked away with the 100

meters as well in a time of 11.57

and Judy Emeodi of Round

Rock McNeil got second and up

and coming Taylor Bennett of

Spring came in third place.

Jack Yates Lady Lions came in

third place in the mile relay in

Class 3A with Teierra Green,

Davontraniqua Mosley, Alexia

Bell and Garion Lewis doing the

honor.

Frisco Lone Star won the Class

3A title and Waco Le Vega took

second place with 52 points.

In other girls action it was Lexie

Lewis of Brownwood with a

victory in the girls 3A 1600

meters run and Kelsie Warren of

Austin, Texas- After an ugly

thunder storm hit the capitol city

the 2013 UIL Track and Field

meet continued into the wee

hours of the night. With more

than 15 thousand fans asked to

leave the Mike A. Myers track

and field complex due to light-

ening and hailing the meet was

delayed for quite some time.

But when the runner returned to

the track some new faces made

names for themselves. Humble

Summer Creek came alive and

won two relays and totaled 54

points good enough to win the

Class 4A title.

Aaron Sharp won the 200 meters

for Summer Creek as they also

won the 800 meter relay. For a

first time team to state, Creek

came out of this with the out-

right title.

Other Class 4A great is Willis

Chris Platt who was in the 400

meters for the third time. The

junior has a chance to actually

win it again next season for a

fourth time. He ran a 46.64 well

ahead of the second place finish-

er.

Cameron Burrell exploded for a

title in the 100 meters for Ridge

Point in a time of 10.36. While

Beaumont Ozen Tony Brown

rolled to the 110 hurdles title

again after placing second to

Burrell in the 100 meters again.

It all started when Kingwood

Park’s Michael Lindberg won

the 3200 meters beating Ryan

Teel of Friendswood in an All-

Houston finals in the long event.

Lindberg placed fourth last year

but closed out this year with a

9.14.58.

Over in Class 5A boys’ action it

was speedster Eli Hall-

Thompson of Katy Morton

Ranch exploding to a 20.60 to

take the 200 meters well ahead

of Jerome Gatewood of

Converse Judson. It was Aaron

Piper of Duncanville claiming

third place. The 100 meters went

to Eli as well in a time of 10.26

which beat Kyle Fulks of Katy

who ran a 10.29 right on his

heels for second place.

Thompson said he felt it was

time to roll and he simply took

care of business when the time

counted the most.

Ishmael Zamora of Alief Elsik

ran a 13.70 to take the 5A title in

the 110 hurdles ahead of Chris

Armstrong of San Antonio East

Central. Zamora placed second

in the 300 hurdles as Vince

Castillo of Donna took the title

in a 36.71 well ahead of

Ishmael’s 37.08. “I felt I needed

to finish strong and I feel I have

gotten it figured out”. Zamora

went on to say the student ath-

letes and some good coaching is

coming together for Elsik these

days and its showing in all

sports. “We kind of depend on

each other and we felt it going

into the meet”. When asked

about his future in football as

well Zamora added he is still

undecided but he knows where

ever he goes the coaching will

make him better and perhaps

prepare him for the next level. It

was Jammil Peeples of Port

Arthur Memorial who claimed

third with a time of 37.37.

Peeples also won the long jump

title with a leap of 23-10.50

beating Cedric King of

Longview and Jomal Wiltz of

Galena Park North Shore who

claimed second and third places

Converse Judson won the team

title in Class 5A with 54 points

beating Klein Oak who had 35

and Fort Bend Bush finished

with 34 while Humble

Kingwood tallied 32 points for

4th place.

Judson took the mile relay in a

time of 3.13.88 with Cameron

Johnson, Jalen Lewis, Brandon

Sanders and Jerome Gatewood

doing their thing. Humble

Kingwood got second and

Aldine- Nimitz took third place.

It was Judson in the triple jump

as they got off to a good start

building points when Angelo

Gordon leaped 49.02-00 to win

over Dominique Drayton of De

Soto who went 48-09-75 for sec-

ond place. Kerwin Roach of

North Shore jumped 48.09.25

for third place.

Killeen Shoemaker's 4 by 200

meter relay team rolled to a

1.24.21 to take the gold medal.

Fort Bend Bush claimed second

as Chad Davis, Kasey Poole,

O’Shea Wilson and Wayne Grice

did the honors. Klein Oak took

third in the event and Converse

Judson came in fourth.

In the boys’ Class 5A 400 meters

it was Nimitz Drevian Young

taking center stage in a time

of46.80 as Brandon Johnson of

Converse Judson placed second

with James Steptoe of Kingwood

getting third place.

The 4 by 100 meter relay title

went to Klein Oak as Jontavis

Smith, Devante Lacy, Eugene

Estes and Larenzo Stewart did

their thing. Longview placed

second and Fort Bend Bush took

3rd with Killeen Shoemaker

coming in right behind them in

4th.

Felipe Valencia won the Shot

Put for La Joya Palmview and

College Park’s Tristen Newman

placed second.

Jay Roberson of Tyler Lee won

the pole vaulting competition

with a 16-06.00 with Noah

Zorsky of Amarillo Tascosa tak-

ing second place.

The high jump Class 5A title

went to Cory Scott of Copperas

Cove for a 7 foot leap. Natron

Gipson of Arlington Bowie took

second and Steve Leonard of

Klein placed third.

In the mile run Robert Domanic

of Lewisville Hebron won in

4.07.49 and Trevor Gilley of

Southlake Carroll got 2nd place

Myles Marshall of Kingwood

took the 800 meters title with a

1.51.32 as Brandon Moore of

South Garland placed second.

Robert Domanic of Lewisville

Hebron proved to be the best in

the long run as he won the 3200

meters with Southlake Carroll’s

Joe Sansome taking second.

In the Class 3A 110 hurdles it

was Booker T. Washington's

William Gibbs. Please see Fiesta

Athletes of the Week for more

information on that event.

Celina won the Class 3A team

title with 54 points while West

Orange Stark had 36 points for

second place and Kennedale had

32 for third with Paris getting 27

points for third place.

ALAYSH’A JOHNSON - SPRING

Austin, Texas- To be able to take home the 100 and 300

hurdles state titles is a very special feat, but to do it as a

junior is virtually unheard of. That was the case as the

2013 State Championship meet took place on the second

weekend in May 2013. It was Spring High School junior

Alaysh’A Johnson doing her thing in a time of 13.52 to

win the girls Class 5A title. She was few ticks ahead of

Ariel Jones of Humble Atascocita who ran a 13.56 and

defending champ Skylar Ross-Ranson of Langham

Creek who got third this year. Johnson went on to win

the girls Class 5A title in the 300 meters in a time of

41.24, Jones got second again in a time of 41.56 and

Raygen Smith of Clear Brook claimed third place. The

talented Johnson was just all smiles as she worked her

way to the top and certainly goes into next season as the

clear favorite to win both events again.

“It was an extremely fast race and I wasn’t nervous just

excited and ready to go”. When asked about facing

against the defending state champ in Skylar Ross-

Ransom Johnson smiled. “Oh I’ve been running against

Skylar since we were seven years old and I knew she is

a great competitor and I knew I just wanted to run hard”.

The charming junior went on to say after getting 2nd

last year she felt she would let the event come to her and

not try and rush it. “I felt good in the warm-ups and kind

of knew it was going to be a good day for me on the

track”. Taking a spill after crossing the finish line

Johnson said on the next to last hurdles she kind of

tightened up but no way was she going to not win the

race. “Last year getting 2nd in the 300 and first in the

100 people told me the jinks would show and I was not

going to come back and win again, but here I am”. She

said if she fell before the line she would crawl across it

to win. “It’s been a long journey and I’m just so thank-

ful”. She closed by saying that due to the all the hard

work and sometimes running in the rain it’s a blessing to

get to state and win two gold medals.

With time still remaining before she has to choose a uni-

versity, Johnson says she and her parents will look into

that very soon. “I kind of like to stay in the south

because the weather is great here for track but my Mom

and I will explore that later on”.

Several guys have won both the 100 and 300 hurdles but

this is the first girl we recall taking home both honors in

these two very different races.

WILLIAM GIBBS-BTW

Austin, Texas-When the dust settled on the track at the

state meet William Gibbs had walked away with the

Class 3A 110 hurdles title. The senior from Booker T.

Washington was the only Eagle in Austin this time

around and single handedly put Booker T. Washington in

the limelight. The former Studewood Cobra star who

played on both sides of the ball at Washington took the

110 hurdles in a time of 14.17 but experts feel before

this kid is done he is going to be in the 13s. Gibbs

talked with the media following his race. “It’s really the

preparation you have to be ready when the gun sounds

and you must be focused on the task at hand”. Gibbs

says the race is so swift with hurdle to go over and run-

ners must be totally focused because any mistakes can

cost you the race. “You have to pop out the blocks to

get the distance and try to gain an advantage from the

start”. The weather was tough on Friday night and many

thought it would affect the meet on Saturday but Gibbs

wasn’t worried because he had checked the weather on

his I-phone. “I knew it was going to be a good day for

our race today and coming back from state last year I

kind of knew what it took to get back here again”.

William was among 15 guys who made the trip to state

from Washington. “We had some newcomers out with us

this year and we had a sophomore running well but a

guy fell in front of him costing him the race”. But

Gibbs says this guy will be back and Booker T. is going

well again next season.

Coming from a family of hurdles with an aunt who won

the state title and all others running the hurdles except

his youngest sister. “It’s kind of natural for me to win it

after coming to state with the best time and having the

tradition so I put in the seven months of hard work”.

Gibbs said he went to practice every day and simply put

the time in so he would be taking home the medal. “I

think any time you specialize in an event you work on

every little detail until you get it right”.

Getting a good push from Kyle Dodd of Abilene Wylie,

Gibbs turned it on and took it home. “I saw him at

about the 4th hurdle but I knew when it was over I had it

won”.

Looking forward to a college career and majoring in

Petroleum engineering are some of the goals Gibbs has

set for himself. Having a love for Science and numbers

as well as many forms of engineering Gibbs thanked

God for his gold medal finish before leaving the media

tent.

My how time truly flies because it seems like only yes-

terday when John and William Gibbs joined the

Studewood Cobras football teams. In only a short time

he has hurdled his way the Class 3A 110 hurdle state

championship.

TIFFANY TERRY-CLEAR SPRINGS

Austin, Texas-Leading the Lady Charges of Clear Spring

high school to the promise land Tiffany Terry won the

girls class 5A 400 meters in a time of 54.60 just barely

beating out Daina Harper of Cy-Creek by a nose. The

Lady Chargers rolled to the girls 4 by 400 meter relay in

a time of 3.44.83 as Ericka Rodriguez, Jenna Sampson

and Aria Kelly teamed with Terry for the honors. The

win tied Clear Springs with Garland for second place

with 36 team points as De Soto won again with 71 total

team points.

We spoke with a happy Terry who said they knew they

were not the top dog in the race but she kept telling her

teammates to work harder. “It is our first gold medal for

our school means a lot”. Terry had placed third in the

800 meters earlier in the day. “Yes I was hurt after the

800 3rd place finish but my dad always told me track is

more mental and there was nothing I could do about the

past so I just came out here and left it all on the track”.

Bringing home the Gold medal in the mile relay was

special for Terry as she rolled across the finish line. “It

was great before this big crowd (more than 17,000 fans)

and looking up seeing all these people in the stands

cheering us on it was awesome”. With the weather

being so bad on Friday many thought it would carry

over into Saturday but it didn’t. “Oh yeh I thought it

was going to be regional’s all over again and I’m so

happy it turned out to be a wonderful day to run track’.

Once her teammates kept her team in the lead Terry said

she simply has to get the Gold medal. “I ran a smart

anchor leg and won it with three seniors and one junior

on this squad”.

In closing Terry is looking forward to attending TCU

and major in nursing as well. “I love the campus and

the coaches so I’m looking forward to my collegiate

career”. We feel it’s going to go very well for Tiffany at

TCU.

Dear reader, we are again sothankful for the opportunity toshare with you some SCRIP-TURAL TRUTHS. Again wethank Mr. Prayther and staff, andof course Fiesta for allowing usthis opportunity. There areMANY professing Christianity,“followers of Christ”. If this istrue, then this is GOOD. But weMUST remember the words ofthe Lord and savior Jesus Christ, how that He said; “Matt 7:13Enter ye in at the (1)strait gate:for (2)wide is the gate, and(3)broad is the (4)way, thatleadeth to (5)destruction, and(6)many there be which go inthereat: 14 Because strait is thegate, and (7)narrow is the(8)way, which leadeth unto life, and (9)few there be (10)thatfind it. 15 Beware of falseprophets, which come to you insheep’s clothing, but inwardlythey are ravening wolves.” (seealso Matt.7:16-28; 20:16 and22:14; Luke13:24-28; 1Pet.3:20-22; 2Pet.2:1-7).

Now after reading, understand-ing, and accepting the WORDSof the Lord and Savior JESUSCHRIST; it is NOT the MANYbut the FEW. This study, as allare, is for SELF CHECKINGaccording to the WORD; forthere be few that are willing tolive a 24/7, SELF-DENYING,Christian lifestyle. So, inChristianity the old saying “themajority rules” doesn’t apply. The Word of TRUTH RULES,and there be FEW that accept IT.Contrary to what seems to be thebelief that living a Christian lifeis easy, according to Christ thisis not true; because it is a suffer-ing lifestyle of denying our sec-ular wants, fun, pleasures etc. This is why we believe accord-ing to the Word, that the words“Christian” and “Christianity”are the most miss-applied wordson earth. It was not easy forChrist, or for those that followedhim. He lived a suffering, selfdenying lifestyle while here, thatended most cruelly on the cross, for our sake. Beware of falseteachers in sheep’s clothing, which teach “Christ suffered forus, we don’t have to, and all wehave to do is believe”. Christspeaks to the contrary, for DEV-ILS BELIEVES and trembles(James2:17-26), but they WILLNOT OBEY, which takes us intothis study: IF AY MAWILL COME AFTER ME,LET HIM DEY HIMSELF

Matt 16:21 From that time forthbegan Jesus to shew unto hisdisciples, how that he must gounto Jerusalem, and suffer manythings of the elders and chiefpriests and scribes, and bekilled, and be raised again thethird day. 22 Then Peter tookhim, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee,Lord: this shall not be unto thee.23 But he turned, and said untoPeter, Get thee behind me,Satan: thou art an offence untome: for thou savourest not the

Mark 8:31 And he began toteach them, that the Son of manmust suffer many things, and berejected of the elders, and of thechief priests, and scribes, and bekilled, and after three days riseagain. 32 And he spake that say-ing openly. And Peter took him,and began to rebuke him. 33 Butwhen he had turned about andlooked on his disciples, herebuked Peter, saying, Get theebehind me, Satan: for thousavourest not the things that beof God, but the things that be ofmen. 34 And when he had calledthe people unto him with his dis-ciples also, he said unto them,Whosoever will come after me,let him deny himself, and takeup his cross, and follow me. 35For whosoever will save his lifeshall lose it; but whosoever shalllose his life for my sake and thegospel’s, the same shall save it.36 For what shall it profit a man,if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Orwhat shall a man give inexchange for his soul? 38Whosoever therefore shall beashamed of me and of my wordsin this adulterous and sinful gen-eration; of him also shall theSon of man be ashamed, whenhe cometh in the glory of hisFather with the holy angels.(KJV)

Mark 10:17 And when he wasgone forth into the way, there

came one running, and kneeledto him, and asked him, GoodMaster, what shall I do that Imay inherit eternal life? 18And Jesus said unto him, Whycallest thou me good? there isnone good but one, that is, God.19 Thou knowest the command-ments, Do not commit adultery,Do not kill, Do not steal, Do notbear false witness, Defraud not,Honour thy father and mother.20 And he answered and saidunto him, Master, all these haveI observed from my youth. 21Then Jesus beholding him lovedhim, and said unto him, Onething thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, andgive to the poor, and thou shalthave treasure in heaven: andcome, take up the cross, and fol-low me. 22 And he was sad atthat saying, and went awaygrieved: for he had great posses-sions. 23 And Jesus lookedround about, and saith unto hisdisciples, How hardly shall theythat have riches enter into thekingdom of God! 24 And thedisciples were astonished at hiswords. But Jesus answerethagain, and saith unto them,Children, how hard is it for themthat trust in riches to enter intothe kingdom of God! 25 It iseasier for a camel to go throughthe eye of a needle, than for arich man to enter into the king-dom of God. 26 And they wereastonished out of measure, say-ing among themselves, Whothen can be saved? 27 And Jesuslooking upon them saith, Withmen it is impossible, but notwith God: for with God allthings are possible. 28 ThenPeter began to say unto him, Lo,we have left all, and have fol-lowed thee. 29 And Jesusanswered and said, Verily I sayunto you, There is no man thathath left house, or brethren, orsisters, or father, or mother, orwife, or children, or lands, formy sake, and the gospel’s, 30But he shall receive an hundred-fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, andmothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in theworld to come eternal life. 31But many that are first shall belast; and the last first. 25 For what is a man advan-taged, if he gain the wholeworld, and lose himself, or becast away? 26 For whosoevershall be ashamed of me and ofmy words, of him shall the Sonof man be ashamed, when heshall come in his own glory, andin his Father’s, and of the holyangels. (KJV)

Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do notcease to pray for you, and todesire that ye might be filledwith the knowledge of his willin all wisdom and spiritual

understanding; 10 That ye mightwalk worthy of the Lord unto allpleasing, being fruitful in everygood work, and increasing in theknowledge of God; 11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffer-ing with joyfulness; 12 Givingthanks unto the Father, whichhath made us meet to be partak-ers of the inheritance of thesaints in light: 13 Who hathdelivered us from the power ofdarkness, and hath translated usinto the kingdom of his dearSon: 14 In whom we haveredemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15Who is the image of the invisi-ble God, the firstborn of everycreature: 16 For by him were allthings created, that are in heav-en, and that are in earth, visibleand invisible, whether they bethrones, or dominions, or princi-palities, or powers: all thingswere created by him, and forhim: 17 And he is before allthings, and by him all thingsconsist. 18 And he is the headof the body, the church: who isthe beginning, the firstborn fromthe dead; that in all things hemight have the preeminence. 19For it pleased the Father that inhim should all fulness dwell; 20And, having made peace throughthe blood of his cross, by him toreconcile all things unto himself;by him, I say, whether they bethings in earth, or things inheaven. 21 And you, that weresometime alienated and enemiesin your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 Inthe body of his flesh throughdeath, to present you holy andunblameable and unreproveablein his sight: 23 If ye continue inthe faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from thehope of the gospel, which yehave heard, and which waspreached to every creaturewhich is under heaven; whereofI Paul am made a minister; 24Who now rejoice in my suffer-ings for you, and fill up thatwhich is behind of the afflic-tions of Christ in my flesh forhis body’s sake, which is thechurch: 25 Whereof I am madea minister, according to the dis-pensation of God which is givento me for you, to fulfil the wordof God; 26 Even the mysterywhich hath been hid from agesand from generations, but now ismade manifest to his saints: 27To whom God would makeknown what is the riches of theglory of this mystery among theGentiles; which is Christ in you,the hope of glory: 28 Whom wepreach, warning every man, andteaching every man in all wis-dom; that we may present everyman perfect in Christ Jesus: 29Whereunto I also labour, strivingaccording to his working, which

worketh in me mightily.(KJV)

1Thes 3:1 Wherefore when wecould no longer forbear, wethought it good to be left atAthens alone; 2 And sentTimotheus, our brother, and min-ister of God, and our fel-lowlabourer in the gospel ofChrist, to establish you, and tocomfort you concerning yourfaith: 3 That no man should bemoved by these afflictions: foryourselves know that we areappointed thereunto. 4 For ver-ily, when we were with you, wetold you before that we shouldsuffer tribulation; even as itcame to pass, and ye know. 5For this cause, when I could nolonger forbear, I sent to knowyour faith, lest by some meansthe tempter have tempted you,and our labour be in vain. 6 Butnow when Timotheus came fromyou unto us, and brought usgood tidings of your faith andcharity, and that ye have goodremembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as wealso to see you: 7 Therefore, brethren, we were comfortedover you in all our afflictionand distress by your faith: 8 Fornow we live, if ye stand fast inthe Lord. 9 For what thanks canwe render to God again for you,for all the joy wherewith we joyfor your sakes before our God;10 Night and day prayingexceedingly that we might seeyour face, and might perfect thatwhich is lacking in your faith?11 Now God himself and ourFather, and our Lord JesusChrist, direct our way unto you.12 And the Lord make you toincrease and abound in love onetoward another, and toward allmen, even as we do toward you:13 To the end he may stablishyour hearts unblameable in holi-ness before God, even ourFather, at the coming of ourLord Jesus Christ with all hissaints.

2 Tim 3:10 But thou hast fullyknown my doctrine, manner oflife, purpose, faith, longsuffer-ing, charity, patience, 11Persecutions, afflictions, whichcame unto me at Antioch, atIconium, at Lystra; what perse-cutions I endured: but out ofthem all the Lord delivered me.12 Yea, and all that will livegodly in Christ Jesus shall suf-fer persecution. 13 But evilmen and seducers shall waxworse and worse, deceiving, andbeing deceived. 14 But continuethou in the things which thouhast learned and hast beenassured of, knowing of whomthou hast learned them; 15 Andthat from a child thou hastknown the holy scriptures, which are able to make theewise unto salvation through faithwhich is in Christ Jesus. 16 All

1 Pet 2:19 For this is thankwor-thy, if a man for consciencetoward God endure grief, suffer-ing wrongfully. 20 For whatglory is it, if, when ye be buffet-ed for your faults, ye shall takeit patiently? but if, when ye dowell, and suffer for it, ye take itpatiently, this is acceptable withGod. 21 For even hereuntowere ye called: because Christalso suffered for us, leaving usan example, that ye should fol-low his steps: 22 Who did nosin, neither was guile found inhis mouth: 23 Who, when hewas reviled, reviled not again;when he suffered, he threatenednot; but committed himself tohim that judgeth righteously: 24Who his own self bare our sinsin his own body on the tree, thatwe, being dead to sins, shouldlive unto righteousness: bywhose stripes ye were healed. 25For ye were as sheep goingastray; but are now returnedunto the Shepherd and Bishop ofyour souls. 1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then asChrist hath suffered for us in theflesh, arm yourselves likewisewith the same mind: for he thathath suffered in the flesh hathceased from sin; 2 That he nolonger should live the rest of histime in the flesh to the lusts ofmen, but to the will of God. 3For the time past of our life maysuffice us to have wrought the

will of the Gentiles, when wewalked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, ban-quetings, and abominable idola-tries: 4 Wherein they think itstrange that ye run not withthem to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: 5 Whoshall give account to him that isready to judge the quick and thedead. 1 Pet 4:12 Beloved, think it notstrange concerning the fierytrial which is to try you, asthough some strange thing hap-pened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakersof Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed,ye may be glad also withexceeding joy. 14 If ye bereproached for the name ofChrist, happy are ye; for thespirit of glory and of God restethupon you: on their part he is evilspoken of, but on your part he isglorified. 15 But let none of yousuffer as a murderer, or as athief, or as an evildoer, or as abusybody in other men’s mat-ters. 16 Yet if any man suffer asa Christian, let him not beashamed; but let him glorifyGod on this behalf. 17 For thetime is come that judgmentmust begin at the house of God:and if it first begin at us, whatshall the end be of them thatobey not the gospel of God? 18And if the (1)righteous(2)scarcely be saved, whereshall the ungodly and the sinnerappear? 19 Wherefore let themthat suffer according to the willof God commit the keeping oftheir souls to him in well doing,as unto a faithful Creator. I Jn 2:15 (1)Love not the(2)world, neither the things thatare in the world. If any manlove the world, the love of theFather is not in him. 16 For allthat is in the world, the lust ofthe flesh, and the lust of theeyes, and the pride of life, is notof the Father, but is of theworld. 17 And the world passethaway, and the lust thereof: buthe that doeth the will of Godabideth for ever. 18 Little chil-dren, it is the last time: and as yehave heard that antichrist shall

come, even now are there many(3)antichrists; whereby weknow that it is the last time. 19They went out from us, butthey were not of us; for if theyhad been of us, they would nodoubt have continued with us:but they went out, that theymight be made manifest thatthey were not all of us. (KJV)

Dear reader, after reading theseinstructions given by the Lordfor one to be His follower; havewe confessed, (praised) Him byapplying these things to ourlives (true Christians)? Or havewe denied Him by OT deny-ing OURSELVES thereby beingDISOBEDIENT (antichrists)?Remember the purpose of thesearticles is to seek the TRUTHaccording to THE WORD,thereby exposing ERROR,which is false doctrine, for thepurpose of saving our souls. Webelieve this is best done by defi-nitions and the PREPONDER-ANCE OF SCRIPTURES;which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influenceof SCRIPTURE. Again webelieve this allows SCRIPTUREto INTERPRET SCRIPTURE,thereby allowing a better under-standing on that topic. Thanksagain for your interest in theWORD of TRUTH; GRACEand SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP toHEAVEN, and away fromHELL!
