Hi from Nat’l. Chevy, It’s almost the end of January and we are still having a very mild winter (unlike last year). We have very little snow and we’ve had some very cold days. Most of the time it has been liveable and no one is complaining about the weather much. Paul and I just returned from our yearly Pomona trip. He didn’t find much to buy except a car. Not a real car (thank goodness) but something similar to a pedal car. I haven’t seen it yet as I stayed in Las Vegas with my daughter who joined us for a few

days. It was nice to spend time together without having to hurry because there is always something else you need to do. So we are awaiting the arrival of Paul’s new treasure. I will take some pictures when it gets here and show you what it is. I could use more pictures for the newsletter. It looks like I’m out so I hope you can help me. I would appreciate it. Time to go. I’m still trying to catch up after my vacation. ‘Til next time.....

PARTS LINE CLUB NEWSLETTER Volume 29 Issue 12 February 2015 is published monthly by National Chevy Association 947 Arcade St. St. Paul, MN 55106. I went to a friend’s house and he had a picture on the wall that caught my eye. I had to take a picture of it. In the background is a 1954 Chevy. I have a 1953 Chevy. If you look, the gas door is on the passenger side...NO WAY! He said he had never noticed. I thought I discovered a rare car.

It took us a long time to figure it out. It seems that when the picture was printed, the negative was backwards. If you look his wristwatch is on the wrong hand. If you hold the picture up to a mirror everything is clear. Have fun with this.

Cover Car ______________________________ I read in the last newsletter you were looking for more stories. Thought this one would be something different. My sister recently got married in December (12/13/14). Earlier in the year she asked me if I knew anyone who had an old car that I could borrow for her wedding. I know a few people with cars but after thinking about it, I thought, “who’s gonna let me borrow their classic car in the middle of December?” So I decided to see what was out there for sale. I got on Craigslist and searched simply for “old car.” I got a lot of good results but the one that caught my eye was a 1954 Chevy 210. The guy lived about 30 miles from me. I went and checked the car out. It seemed very solid, so I bought it. It needed some work to get it running. Looking back I should have done my homework on the availability of parts first, but thankfully I found the National Chevy Association and my dad and I were able to get it going. I kept the car a secret from my sister and my now brother-in-law until we got it running. When I showed them the car they were overwhelmed with what my dad and I had done for them. The wedding has now come and gone, and thanks to you guys it went perfectly. I have included some pictures of the car and from the wedding if you decide to print them in the newsletter. Thanks again for making their day possible.

GarrettTiffin, OH

PS: If you decide to print this, could you mail me an extra copy for the bride and groom. Thanks!

To: National Chevy, I replaced the wiper springs on my 1954 Chev Convertible. I tried following your instructions and found it to be a little hard to do. So I wrote up how I replaced them. From the time I started to remove the arm until I put the arm on the car it only took about 5 minutes.

Thanks,Bill TaggartLeesburg, FL

NOTE: Thanks for the tip, Bill. Hopefully someone else can use it.

blade until shield slips from clip, then gently lift shield to expose spring.

2. Insert pointed tool in clip and push to release clip.

3. Remove old spring and install new spring to clip.

4. Push clip and reattach clip.

5. Optional - oil or grease spring.6. Gentle move shield down and install over clip.

Using fingers bend shield into orginal position.

Tech Help _______________________________ I purchased a 1954 Convertible with power steering. The power steering had been added so the previous owner had cut the left fresh air tube to miss the power steering box. I did not like this look so I added a 4” flex to look like the original. The following is how I did the change.

1. Made a collar to fit over air tube and reduced to fit inside of 4” flex.

2. 4” flex purchased from N.A.P.A.

3. New strap to hold flex to inter panel.

4. Rolled and welded 1-1/2” wide collar to fit inside flex.

I cemented the flex to reducer collar and to the inside collar.

5. I then used the original rubber sleeve to go over tube at firewall.

I’m also seding picture of the car and the tubes. I hope this helps others.
