"Without censorship, things can get terribly confused in the public mind."

William Westmoreland United States Army four-star general (1914 - 2005)

A compilation for feelthechange.org/hh - From the heart to the world

This compilation of extracts of voices from history has been put together as food for thought;  to help people think about some of the key events that happened and/or shaped our understanding of history today. It is not a definitive guide to what happened. This is something that we will have to make sense of, in time.

"Paleoanthropologists long thought that the peopling of Europe followed a route from North Africa through the Levant. But genetic data show

that the DNA of today's western Eurasians resembles that of people in India."

"The Basques in Spain and France, the little, dark Welshmen, the Scotch and Black Celts to the West of the Shannon River in Ireland, as

well as the same kind of men in Brittany and Equitane in France; the Guanchis of the Canary islands and the Berbers in Africa are all

probably the remnants of the same race."

"THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF A MASSACRE—no mass graves, no piles of bones. Yet more than a million men vanished without a trace. They left no

descendants. Historians know that something dramatic happened in England just as the Roman empire was collapsing. When the Anglo-Saxons first arrived in that northern outpost in the fourth century A.D.—whether as immigrants or invaders is debated—they encountered an existing Romano-Celtic population

estimated at between 2 million and 3.7 million people. Latin and Celtic were the dominant languages...  So what happened?"

"In European history, the Middle Ages, or Medieval period, lasted from the 5th to the 15th century. It began with the collapse of the Western

Roman Empire and merged into the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery."

"The Migration Period, also known as the period of the Barbarian invasions or of the Völkerwanderung ("migration of peoples" in German), was a period of

intensified human migration in Europe from about 400 to 800 AD during the transition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages. This period was marked by profound changes both within the Roman Empire and beyond its "barbarian frontier". The migrants who came first were Germanic tribes such as the Goths, Vandals, Angles, Saxons, Lombards, Suebi, Frisii and Franks; they were later

pushed westwards by the Huns, Avars, Slavs, Bulgars and Alans."

"The rigid and repressive English class system some believe is a direct result of the Norman Conquest when Norman French became the language

of the court and upper-classes and Anglo-Saxon English the language of the peasantry. For example, the Normans ate pork, beef, mutton and

poultry, whereas the Anglo-Saxons looked after and ate pig, cow, sheep and chicken. The middle class was fond of wine; the working-class loved

beer."

"Resentment of the Spanish Imperial Army under the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in the German states is of a later date and has a distinctly religious

character. The Schmalkaldic War of 1546 and 1547 had Charles’ Catholic forces entering Protestant parts of Germany in an attempt to stop the spread of

Luther’s heresy.  Although Charles’ forces were victorious in defeating the League of Protestant forces, the new beliefs continued to spread in this northern

part of Europe.  It was due to the heroism of Charles’ son, the great Philip II, King of Spain for much of the latter part of the sixteenth century, that southern

Germany remained Catholic."

"Charles V sought to ensure the succession to the imperial throne for his son Philip II (1527–1598) at the Diet of Augsburg in 1550/1551. The project certainly failed, but the imperial request alone provoked massive criticism, as is evident

in a song popular at the time: "Kein Walch soll uns regieren, / Dazu kein Spaniol, / Sie tun uns nur verführen, / Sein aller Untreu voll ....“ 20 Supporters of Luther in particular increasingly saw the imperial policy as Spanish and Catholic, and for this reason the princes of the Holy Roman Empire rejected the so-called

"Spanish succession"."

“Philip II received from his father an inheritance which encompassed half the world. He reigned not only over the Iberian kingdoms together with a large part of Italy and

the Netherlands (the latter from the Burgundian inheritance), but also over the Spanish territories in the New World and the lands in the far reaches of the Pacific

that still carry his name today. Furthermore, in 1581, the Portuguese estates in Tomar recognised Philip II, who had married  a Portuguese princess, as their king. And this meant not only rule over Portugal, but also Brazil, many coastal regions of Africa and India, and numerous islands of the Indonesian archipelago and far-away Macao in China. Philip II was thus genuinely the first world ruler, whose word could

be ignored in only a few parts of the world, not even by his political opponents or those who resisted him. This enormous accretion of power meant that everywhere

criticism of the king mixed with criticism of Spain and the Spanish.”

"The capacocha ceremony, involving a ritual sacrifice of children, was an important part of the Inca Empire, and it is interpreted today as one of several strategies used by the imperial state to integrate and control its vast empire.

According to historical documentation, the capacocha ceremony was performed in celebration of key events such as the death of an emperor, the birth of a royal

son, a great victory in battle or an annual or biennial event in the Incan calendar. It was also conducted to stop or prevent droughts, earthquakes,

volcanic eruptions and epidemics."

"The artifactual evidence does seem to strongly suggest that the conquest of the Americas came about because of a "Race War".

Apparently those light-skinned people of Mongol extraction, saw White Europeans as potential allies, and took advantage of the coming of

White Europeans, to free themselves from Black tyranny. They became allies of the Spanish, and for their service, were initially spared - that

changed later."

"It is common in American textbooks to extol the nobility of purpose of English colonists while Spaniards who came to the New World are contemptuously called cruel, greedy seekers after gold. Englishmen are “homebuilders” and

“settlers” who were willing to make the new land their home, while the Spanish are described as “seeking their fortunes” while enslaving and murdering the

natives. The truth is actually quite the opposite. It was the English who saw the native Americans as enemies and tried to exterminate them. (Indeed, their

policies were carried on by the American government when they expelled the Indians from their ancestral lands and resettled them on “reservations.” This

problem is, sadly, still with us today.)"

"The myth of “Nordic superiority” had already spread to the German states. It was accepted belief that the Spanish were a “race set apart” because of

their smaller stature, darker skin, and “impure” blood. Luther exhibited violent anti-Jewish feelings; therefore, Protestant Germans were taught that Spanish blood was tainted with the blood of the Jews (and the Moors) who had lived among them for centuries. Catholic Germans were considered

traitors to the Fatherland, with the ridiculous rumor being spread that Spain was planning an alliance with the Turks to attempt to subjugate the German

people."

"The Jacobite Risings were a series of uprisings, rebellions, and wars in Great Britain and Ireland occurring between 1688 and 1746. The uprisings were aimed at returning James VII of Scotland and II of

England (the second son of Charles I), and later his descendants of the Black House of Stuart, to the British throne after he was deposed by

Parliament during the Revolution of 1688. The series of conflicts takes its name from Jacobitism, from Jacobus, the Latin form of James."

English Civil War, Cromwell transported thousands of Scots soldiers to Virginia, New England and the West Indies. An additional 1700 Scots were expelled as enemies of the state after the Covenanter Risings and 1600 men, women and

children were banished as a result of the Jacobite Rebellions of 1715 and 1745. A directory of Scots banished to the American plantations is available at

Germans also, the Saxons only excepted, who with the English, make the principal Body of White People on the Face of the Earth. I could wish their Numbers were increased. And while we are, as I may call it, Scouring our
