Standards of Conduct & Performance
Policy
The Standards of Conduct and Performance Policy tells all employees what is expected of them. It includes:
• Behavior expectations
• Information on the Progressive Discipline Procedures, as outlined in Staff Employee Handbook
• Information on the Grievance Process for non-probationary employees

Human Resources Policies
• On July 1, 2006 the Higher Education Restructuring Act went into effect allowing for the creation of University Staff
• As University Staff, Virginia Tech retains the right to make changes to your Human Resource Polices except for Health Insurance, Retirement, Worker’s Compensation, and access to the State’s Grievance Process
• Policies for Classified Staff are determined by Virginia’s Department of Human Resources Management
