In 1870, the Newtown gate was erected at

Durham Road and Sycamore Street. This

small building served as the home and

headquarters of the gatekeeper. The cost

was one cent for pedestrians, two cents for

animals, and later, five cents for automobiles.

In 1955, the residence moved to its current

location after 30 years of non-use. Today,

Brixmor plans to fully renovate the historic

Toll House, which will serve as the future

home of an artisanal dessert cafe.

and feel very fortunate with the success of the business thus far. We

continue to bring in new clients every day, about 100 per month, and

July 2013 to 57 classes as of December 2016! Our location in town,
