Vietnamese is a very superstitions people.

Representatives of boy’s family asks the girl’s family to allow to marry her.

They consult to a fortune-teller to see whether the couple can live together as husband and wife.

In an hoi (engagement)

The groom with his family bring gifts to bride’s family. The Vietnamese brides accept gifts such as sweets, fruits, husband-wife cake and sticky rice.

An obligatory gift is the coconut palm branch — a symbol of love in this country.

GiftsThe gifts are placed a number of trays. The number must be an odd number 5, 7 or 9… trays. The gifts are covered by the red color paper.

Vietnamese believe the odd number and the red color will bring luck to the young couple.

The wedding day

The final stage is the wedding day.

The couple must stay apart on the day

before to prevent bad luck.

The bride put the Áo Dài, one of the most

It is Vietnamese national costume. Áo Dài appeared in the 18th century in the

royal court of Huế.
