Josh - a producer, musician and digital artist - has been working with up-and-coming film makers to expand and promote their craft. Sara Townsend decided to throw away the propensity of local government to develop reams of written instructions and use video instead to explain a new high-tech key system for community facilities in Bayside. Imogen Kelly thinks video is central to how Councils can and should communicate and is helping to drive Bayside’s growing commitment to communicating via video.

Anthea Naylor is a teacher working with people with special needs and helped found meTV with her partner Shane Spence. Through video self-modelling and peer modelling Anthea is revolutionising how we transform the lives of people in special and mainstream education. A not-to-be missed session that highlights the extraordinary potential and power of video.

Moonee Valley City Council lobbied vigorously against the impact of the proposed East-West Link. As part of its advocacy and education about its transport services plan Mary Kennedy led the development of a series of animated videos to highlight the population growth challenges faced by the Moonee Valley community.

CITY COUNCIL & JOHN CALABRO, LOCAL VIDEO MAKER After Latrobe City Council adopted a new Procurement Policy, Jaime Aitken was presented with the

challenge of how to best communicate it to Latrobe’s huge supplier base and Council staff. So he commissioned an animated video, Doing business with Latrobe City Council. The video is produced and directed by John Calabro from The View from Here, a Traralgon based design studio.

3.35 PM VIDEO IN PUBLIC PLACES, THOMAS DAWE, URBAN SCREENS COORDINATOR, CITY OF GREATER DANDENONG

Thomas Dawe is part of the Screen Team for Harmony Square in Dandenong. Thomas programs an eclectic 24/7 outdoor program of entertainment, education and interactive material on the Big Screen in the heart of Dandenong. The Our Stories Project teamed film makers with local people to tell their stories.
