What is HD-SDI CCTV?HD stands for High Definition, and SDI stands for Serial Digital Interface – a family of standardised,broadcast quality digital interfaces using BNC connectors. The standard was adopted by the SMPTE(Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers).

Because of its origins in broadcast, the definition and picture quality of HD-SDI footage is far superior toa standard analogue signal. This technology has now been adopted by the CCTV sector.Because it has been designed with the sole purpose of providing Megapixel, High Definition footageover standard co-ax cable, it is perfectly suited to CCTV, where the majority of existing systems useco-ax.

Compared with High Definition IP systems, HD-SDI is easy to install for anyone with experience of installing analogue CCTV systems. You won't need to learn any new skills or involve the IT department in any installations.

The VCP2259-HD is a 1080p HD-SDI colour-mono true day/night body camera. It provides full 1080p High Definition footage over standard coaxial cable, and operates down to 1.0 Lux Colour and 0.5 Lux Mono (DSS 0.002 Lux, BW DSS 0.001 Lux).

It is supplied without a lens and is compatible with a wide range of lenses, including the CVD 2812IR-HD and the CVD550IR-HD. Both are IR-corrected, High Definition lenses suitable for use with HD cameras.
