Case History :
1. Repeated both Slew gear box damages in HMC OSL - 02. 2. Initial Vibration readings are low but the gear haunting indication in Vibration spectrum
(Load & No Load conditions). 3. Unusual sounds while in Operation. 4. Damage starts while operation under load . 5. Four Gear boxes changed with in the period of one and half year.
OBSERVATIONS:
1. Gear tooth haunting and rubbing indication found in both gear box spectrums. 2. Load on Gear box bearings and motors. 3. Misalignment conditions impacting load on slew gear box units and its auxiliaries.
Recommendations: 1. Not recommended to operate under this conditions and it is leads to further damages in slew
gear box units and its auxiliaries. 2. Complete Alignment inspections and corrections have to be done. 3. Gear teeth profiles and clearances have to inspected and corrected as per the guidelines
provided. 4. Final inspection needed after the complete corrections.
