• It is the capital of the Veneto region.

• Venice with it´s canals and lagoons is very romantic city and there are many poets, artists.

History of city

• History of Venice starting in the mid-fifth century. • Republic of Venice was a maritime power and

venues of the Crusades, as well as an important center of commerce (especially the spice trade) and art during the Renaissance.

• On the uninhabited islands nearby residents fled mainland cities from barbarian invasions.

• They established several settlements here. These are combined in 697 maritime union in Venice

Grand Canal

• The Grand Canal is a canal in Venice, Italy.

• It forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city.

• Public transport is provided by water buses and private water taxis, and many tourists explore the canal by gondola.
