VISION VANDALIA COMPREHENSIVE PLANSteering Committee Meeting 3
• KF1 - Residents place a high priority on revitalizing the downtown area as a community space for gathering, entertainment, and dining.
• KF2 - The City lacks a distinct identity. Many desire Vandalia to be welcoming, family oriented, and a place that embraces it's unique history and characteristics.

• KF4 - Providing housing choice within the community, especially for aging adult and young adult populations, is desired.
• KF5 - While Vandalia's location increases accessibility for residents and businesses, it can bring increased crime and traffic as well.

VISION VANDALIA COMPREHENSIVE PLANSteering Committee Meeting 3
BELIEVE STATEMENTS - PARKS & PUBLIC SPACES EXAMPLE
03We believe:
-In creating a system of well-used and enjoyable parkland that is accessible to residents in all areas of the city.
-Civic buildings and public gathering places should be developed to define “places” and encourage social and economic investment.
-A range of parks and amenities (e.g tot-lots, community greens, ballfields and community gardens) should be available to all residents.
-Creating a signature public space as part of future downtown redevelopment is important.
VISION VANDALIA COMPREHENSIVE PLANSteering Committee Meeting 3
MEASURES & ACTIONS03
Example Measure: 70% of housing units are within a 1/2 mile walk to a park.
Example actions: Identify neighborhoods that lack access to parks.
