[The Chinese Auction] generates laughs for those participating, and money for LEAF scholarships.
Dual Installation and Chinese Auction Set for Thursday, Jan. 23• SFV and Channel Islands Chapter Installations
Join Rescheduled LEAF Scholarship Dinner
• BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse, Woodland Hills to Host Unique Dual Chapter Event
Postponed due to the November area fires, the world famous SFV Auxiliary’s Chinese Auction Scholarship Fundraiser has
combined with the San Fernando Valley and Channel Islands Chapter Installations to bring you the best “three-fer” CLCA has ever offered. The new location and date for the combined event is Thursday, January 23, 6:30 p.m. at BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse, Woodland Hills.
Gathering to honor the 2019 Presidents and Boards of their respective Chapters – Luis Casas for the SFV Chapter, and Pete Dufau for the Channel Islands Chapter – attendees will also show support for their Presidents and Boards in 2020 – Luis Casas again for SFV and Pete Dufau again for Channel Islands.
All attendees will be treated to one of the most FUN-Filled events the SFV Chapter holds each year. Sponsored by the SFV Auxiliary, this event generates laughs for those participating, and money for LEAF scholarships.
The dual Chapter Installation and Chinese Auction will take place Thursday, January 23, 2020 starting at 6:30 p.m. at BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse, 6424 Canoga Ave., Woodland Hills, CA 91367; (818) 340-1748.
Dinner is $40 per person with reservation or $50 at the door, payable to SFV CLCA…plus a wrapped gift (gag or serious). Bring a friend…they’ll laugh with you.
Plan to have a fabulous feast and a lot of fun as you bid on wrapped “mystery” gifts. SFV’s Nelson Colvin will again use his famous scatter-gun delivery and creative math to generate monies for scholarships for students in horticulture and related fields.
RSVP to Jan Veis at (818) 772-7233 or [email protected]

It’s Time to Spend Time with Those You Care About Most
At the end of the year and beginning of the new one, I always like to take
time and enjoy all my hard work. It not only ads to one’s sense of accomplish-ment but helps in planning for the type and location of projects you will
consider for the New Year. It’s a good exercise for every entrepreneur.
Most small business owners don’t see the Holidays as a vacation from work. I always find myself in this group, but you should
take time to enjoy your own personal and family time. Isn’t this why we are working so hard anyway? The Holidays should give us
the opportunity to again realize what really matters in life.
As an entrepreneur I rely heavily on my wife for support. I made a commitment to myself to always be there for my wife and kids no matter how busy I am. The best gift you can give your family and friends is your presence. Do whatever you need to do to relax and spend quality time with the people you care about the most.
Dual Chapter Installation Jan. 23In planning for our Dual Chapter Installation and Chinese Auction January 23 at BJs in Woodland Hills, I realized just how many
phone calls, meetings, changes of plans, approvals and so much more goes into organizing an event of this magnitude. I’m not complaining – that’s what I signed up for – but it gave me a whole new appreciation for the Board Members and staff who tirelessly work to bring you the best events and programs possible throughout the year. I thank you, as should every SFV member and Chapter friend for all that you do.
We’ll see you at the Installation and Chinese Auction. – Luis

Love, the Common Denominator
December is always an extra special time of the year. For most of us, we celebrate a meaningful time as to what this month
means to each one of us individually. I believe our life’s journey for each one of us began in love. Love has been present every moment in our lives, whether we know or recognize it or not. As an example, look at our vocation as all of us are cocreators with our Creator – God’s intent being to use love as the common denominator. This spiritual presence dominates our lives recognizing that “Love Does.” It’s like a circle that allows the Last to be First, and the First to be Last. This is without question.
This is the perfect month that we can recognize and understand the birth of Christ Consciousness as the Great Authority and Author. “I and the Father are one.”
December also continues with and includes Hanukkah that recognizes the individual awakening within each one – “I and the Father are one.” I believe this is an example of the thread of life that weaves all life together – in love. In our associated vocations this is inspiring.
Life is good and is an outstanding journey we all take individually. Sharing this month with love with families, friends, associates, and neighbors is precious and rewards us in kind. This
is like the flowers that turn to the morning sun.
Maria and I have not just been honored but blessed with the friends we have made in our Chapter and in State CLCA these many years. Again, we wish you all love while on life’s journey – health and happiness, abundance and success in all that you do. Original thinking
makes it so. The only way to live is to accept each minute as an unrepeatable miracle. And, of course, this is my finding: Love Does. – Dave
Be the change you want to see in the word. – Mohandas Gandhi
Take time to think about what most fully represents exultant and joyous life – life that is so full of the sheer joy of living that it cannot be still. – Ernest Holmes
