Парафія далі робитиме збірку їжі та одягу для безпритульних. Буде дві коробки: одна для продуктів харчування і друга для одягу.

Просьба жертвувати консервовані продукти та продукти у фабричних упаковках, таких як; рис, макарони, крупи і т. д. Вся їжа має бути не прострочена, або ми змушені будемо її викинути.

Одяг має бути новим, або в доброму стані. На даний час ми збираємо одяг на весну і літо. Також можна жертвувати ковдри і господаські товари. ДУЖЕ ДЯКУЄМО ЗА ПІДТРИМКУ.

Фестиваль Націй - це міжнародний фестиваль, який фінансується Міжнародним інститутом Міннесоти. Культурні досягнення з усього світу представлені через торговельні крамнички (кафе), базари,виступи творчих колективів, та культурні виставки. Це можливість для кожного народу та його культури представляти себе тисячам людей, які відвідують цей фестиваль щорічно.

Українці постійно брали участь у цьому фестивалі з 1930-х років, коли фестиваль вперше почав пропагувати танці, співи,

демонструвати культурні експонати, торговельні крамнички (кафе) та писанки. В даний час ми плануємо провести культурну виставку, і нам потрібно добровольців мужчин для роботи в кіоску по 3 години в три зміни, а також для допомогти в торговельній крамничці (кафе).

Це чудова можливість скористатися вашою допомогою у пропаганді нашої української культури, а також ви можете отримати безкоштовні квитки на фестиваль та їжу в українській крамничці (кафе). УКРАЇНСЬКА ПРАВОСЛАВНА ЦЕРКВА США ТАБІРНА ПРОГРАМА.

Парафіяльна Управа Нашої Парафії Проголосувала За Фінансову Підтримку Одну Дитину Нашої Громади, які би хотіли цього літа віддихнути у церковному таборі у Пенсільванії. Для дітей віком 9 - 13 років від неділі 24 червня до суботи 7 липня 2018 року,а також для підлітків 13 - 18 років, конференція від 8 липня до 21 липня 2018 року.

Дитина повинна бути членом сім'ї, яка належить до нашої парафії, або сім'ї, яка не є членом, але активна у громаді. Кінцевий термін подання документів - 30 травня 2018 року.

Програма надає широкий різновид релігійного навчання, веселощів та компанійських активностей. Кожного дня проводяться церковно - релігійні уроки. Діти поділяються на класи за віком. Додаткові уроки та спільні класи включені в графік.

Вивчення української спадщини - це цікава складова програми. Навчання українського танцю є основним класом.

Додаткові спеціальні класи інтересів були включені: мова, вишивка, кулінарія, спів та святкові урочистості.

Члени табору та співробітники один день в тиждень присвячують обслузі. Кожного року члени табору беруть участь у проекті табору всіх святих і роблять свої щорічні пакети любові для людей похилого віку. Додаткові проекти включають: створення ікон для дитячих будинків в Україні, виготовлення карток для мешканців старечих будинків, виливання свічок для наших місійних парафій.

НОВИНИ БРАТСТВА ТА СЕСТРИЦТВА У суботу, 21 квітня, члени Сестрицтва та Братства зібралися разом і прибрали братську кімнату внизу, щоб мати можливість використовувати її для зустрічей та невеликих заходів. Приводом був захід весняної активності, який був організований сестрицтвом 27 квітня. У заході взяли участь близько 30 членів сестрицтва та братства. Це був величезний успіх. Клубна заля виглядала чудово, і з великою кількістю їжі та напитків і у кожного з присутніх був прекрасний час.

ВОЗНЕСІННЯ ГОСПОДНЄ.

З великою радістю, з благодатним хвилюванням і глибоким

духовним тремтінням зустрічає це свято кожна віруюча

християнська душа.

Неодноразово і несподівано з’являвся воскреслий Спаситель Своїм

учням, при закритих дверях, коли вони плакали і ридали за

розп’ятим Божественним Учителем. Обійняті земними думками про

смерть і нездатні повірити в Його воскресіння із мертвих. Спочатку

воскреслий Христос здавався їх здивованим очам привидом, духом.

Але вони своїми руками доторкалися до Його ран, які були зроблені

цвяхами, доторкаються до Його проколених ребер, вони бачать

своїми очима, як Він споживає разом з ними їжу, і всю їхню сутність

освітлює невимовне світло віри у Воскреслого Учителя, Христа що

встав із мертвих. Навіть Фома, який довше від усіх сумнівався падає

лицем до землі перед Спасителем і говорить з полум’яною надією та

вірою «Господь і Бог мій»

Після перебування на землі впродовж 40-ка днів зібравши Своїх

учнів які були просвічені вірою у свого воскреслого Божественного

Учителя, повелів їм не покидати Єрусалиму і чекати обіцяного від

Отця Святого Духа: «Та ви приймете силу, як Дух Святий злине на

вас, і ви будете Моїми свідками в Єрусалимі, і в усій Юдеї та

Самарії, та аж до останнього краю землі» (Ді.1.8). Потім вивівши

Своїх учнів з міста до Вифанії і вийшовши на Єлеонську гору

Господь Ісус Христос підняв свої руки і поблагословивши учнів

своїх і всіх хто був з Ним: «І сталось, як Він благословляв їх, то

почав відступати від них, і возноситись на небо» (Лк.24.51).

Даруючи Своє Божественне благословення під час Вознесіння на

небо Господь одночасно дарував Своїм учням, а через них і нам

грішним Своє благодатне втішення: «Я з вами у всі дні до кінця

віку».

За благодаттю Божою віруюча людина в цьому святкуванні

просвічується серцем і розумом і прагне зробити свою душу храмом

Божим жити з Христом і у Христі, сповнюючи Євангельські

заповіді, які направляють нас до добра, до світла, істини, миру,

дружби і любові.

Святий Іоан Золотоустий викликує: «Браття і ми з вами вознесенні з

Христом. Через апостолів і через цілий сонм їх святих послідовників

світ пізнав Сина Божого – Господа нашого Ісуса Христа розп’ятого

за нас, воскреслого і зійшовшого на небеса і сидячого праворуч

Отця – Його царству не буде кінця».

За Божим благоволінням, за невимовним чоловіколюбством Сина

Божого родився християнський мир, родилася Свята Церква

Христова. У вознесінні Господнім вище з’єдналося із земним.

Блаженний Августин з цього приводу говорить: «вознісшись від

землі на небо як Бог, з нашим тілом, як людина, Він Богочоловік,

тим самим явив що і нам людям через Нього відкрилось небо, яке

так довго було закрите для нас і зменшилась на кінець відстань між

небом і землею».

Тому небо і земля переповнені радості і торжествують у великий

день Вознесіння Господнього. Всі віруючі християни відчувають і

несуть в собі благодатну впевненість в тому, що невимовно солодке

благословення Сина Божого Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, подане

апостолам, під час Вознесіння, перебуває завжди з усіма тими хто

любить Його і творить Його святу волю

СВЯТА П’ЯТИДЕСЯТНИЦЯ - ЗЕЛЕНІ СВЯТА.

Після вознесіння Ісуса Христа настав десятий день: це був п’ятдесятий день після Воскресіння Христового. У євреїв було велике свято П’ятидесятниці в пам’ять Синайського законодавства. Всі апостоли разом з іншими учнями Христовими та іншими віруючими одностайно перебували в одній світлиці в Єрусалимі.

Була третя година дня за єврейським рахунком годин, тобто, по-нашому - дев’ята година ранку. Раптом зчинився шум з неба, ніби буря раптова зірвалася, і переповнила ввесь той дім, де перебували учні Христові. І з’явилися вогненні язики і спочили (зупинилися) по одному на кожному з них. Всі сповнилися Духа Святого і стали славити Бога різними мовами, яких раніше не знали.

Так Дух Святий, за обітницею Спасителя, зійшов на апостолів у вигляді вогненних язиків, на знак того, що Він дав апостолам здатність і силу для проповіді Христового вчення всім народам; зійшов же у вигляді вогню на знак того, що має силу спалювати гріхи й очищати , освячувати й зігрівати душі.

В Єрусалимі в цей час було багато євреїв, які прийшли з різних країн на свято. Апостоли вийшли до них і стали проповідувати на їх рідних мовах воскреслого Христа. Проповідь так подіяла на тих, хто слухав її, що багато хто повірив і стали питати: «Що ж нам робити?» Петро відповів їм:

«Покайтеся і хрестіться в ім’я Ісуса Христа на прощення ваших гріхів, тоді і ви отримаєте дар Святого Духа»

Таких, що увірували в Христа і охоче прийняли хрещення, виявилося того дня близько трьох тисяч чоловік. Таким чином, почало будуватися на землі Царство Боже, тобто Церква Христова.

Православні християни в цей день прикрашають будинки і храми зеленими гілочками, квітами.

Звичай цей йде ще від старозавітній Церкви, коли будинки і синагоги прикрашалися зеленню в П’ятидесятницю в пам’ять того, як при Сінайській горі все цвіло і зеленіло в день, коли Мойсей отримував скрижалі закону. Сіонська світлиця, де на апостолів зійшов Святий Дух, у той час, за загальним звичаєм, теж була прикрашена гілками дерев і квітами.

А ще квітучі гілки нагадують нам про те, що під дією благодаті Божої людські душі розцвітають плодами чеснот.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH:

Thank you to all who have donated food and clothing these past months. We have donated them to Sharing and Caring Hands, because FOCUS has lost their lease and looking for a new place. Once they are re-established we will be donating to them.

WE ARE STILL GATHERING FOOD AND CLOTHING for the FOCUS food and clothing shelves for the homeless. FOCUS is an Orthodox charity sponsored by the Pan-Orthodox community that provides meals, food, clothes and work for those in need.

There are two (2) boxes in the hall - for food and clothes. Please donate only non-perishable food such as canned goods or boxed staples such as rice, noodles, cereals, etc. All Food Should Be

Within the Expiration Dates Otherwise It Will Be Thrown Away.

Clothing Should Be Either New or Gently Used. Currently we are collecting spring and summer clothing. You can also donate linens and household supplies. YOUR SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

FESTIVAL OF NATIONS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THURS, MAY

3 – SUNDAY MAY 6, 2018

Festival of Nations is an International Festival sponsored by the International Institute of Minnesota. Cultures from around the world are represented in Cafes, Bazaars, Demonstrations, Performances and Cultural Exhibits. It is an opportunity for a nation and culture to represent itself to thousands of people who attend this festival yearly.

Ukrainians have participated continuously in this Festival since 1930’s. when the Festival first started through dancing, singing, cultural exhibits, café and pysanky demonstrations. We are currently planning a cultural exhibit for this year and we need volunteers for 3 hour shifts to man the booth and also to help in the Café.

We could sure use your help in promoting our Ukrainian culture at this wonderful opportunity, plus you get free tickets to enjoy the Festival and a meal at the Ukrainian café. Don’t miss this opportunity to help, please contact Julie Pawluk at wdowychyn@q.com or (651) 439-7702.

DIOCESAN CHURCH SCHOOL CAMP (DCSC)

THE PARISH BOARD VOTED TO SPONSOR ONE CHILD from our parish to attend the UOC of USA camp in Pennsylvania. Sunday June 24 - Saturday July 7, 2018: Children ages 9 – 13 or the Teenage Conference from July 8 - 21, 2018 Teenagers 13 - 18

The child should be a member of a family that belongs to our parish or a non-member who is active in the parish. If you are interested in signing up your child or grandchild, please contact Lesya Lucyk at llucyk3@gmail.com or 651-621-3003. We will send you an application. Application deadline is May 30, 2018.

The DCSC program provides a wide variety of faith-filled learning, fun and fellowship activities. Daily church school lessons are given. The children are divided into classes by age. Additional lessons and interactive classes are incorporated into the schedule.

Learning about Ukrainian Heritage is an interesting and fun component of the program. Ukrainian dance instruction is a staple class.

Additional special interest classes have been included: language, embroidery, cooking, singing, and holiday celebrations.

The campers and staff devote one day each week to service. Each year the campers take on an All Saints Camp Beautification project and make their annual Love Packages for the elderly. Additional projects have included: creating icons for the orphanages in Ukraine, making cards for those in Nursing Homes, dipping candles for our mission parishes.

Sisterhood & Brotherhood News Saturday, April 21st, members of the Sisterhood and Brotherhood got together and cleaned out the downstairs club room in order to be able to use it for meetings and smaller events. The catalyst was the Spring Fling that was organized by the Sisterhood on April 27th. Around 30 members of the Sisterhood and Brotherhood and their spouses attended the event. It was a huge success. The club room looked great and with lots of food and drinks everyone had a great time.

FELLOWSHIP COFFEE HOUR –

Everyone is invited to the church hall each Sunday after Liturgy for refreshments and fellowship with exception on the Sundays when memorial services or church dinners are planned. If you want to volunteer to host a coffee hour you may sign up on the chart by the kitchen in the Parish Hall. Many thanks to those who have volunteered in the past and to those who will volunteer to host future coffee hours.

ASCENSION

The Lord Jesus passed forty days on earth after His Resurrection from the dead, appearing continually in various places to His disciples, with whom He also spoke, ate, and drank, thereby further demonstrating His Resurrection. On this Thursday, the fortieth day after Pascha, He appeared again in Jerusalem. After He had first spoken to the disciples about many things, He gave them His last commandment, that is, that they go forth and proclaim His Name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. But He also commanded them that for the present, they were not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait there together until they receive power from on high, when the Holy Spirit would come upon them.

Saying these things, He led them to the Mount of Olives, and raising His hands, He blessed them; and saying again the words of the Father's blessing, He was parted from them and taken up. Immediately a cloud of light, a proof of His majesty, received Him. Sitting thereon as though on a royal chariot, He was taken up into Heaven, and after a short time was concealed from the sight of the disciples, who remained where they were with their eyes fixed on Him. At this point, two Angels in the form of men in white raiment appeared to them and said, "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into Heaven? This same Jesus, Who is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven" (Acts 1:11). These words, in a complete and concise manner, declare what is taught in the Symbol of Faith concerning the Son and Word of God. Therefore, having so fulfilled all His dispensation for us, our Lord Jesus Christ ascended in glory into Heaven, and sat at the right hand of God the Father. As for His sacred disciples, they returned from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem, rejoicing because Christ had promised to send them the Holy Spirit.

It should be noted that the Mount of Olives is a Sabbath's day journey from Jerusalem, that is, the distance a Jew was permitted to walk on the day of the Sabbath. Ecumenius writes, "A Sabbath day's journey is one mile in length, as Clement says in his fifth Stromatis; it is two thousand cubits, as the Interpretation of the

Acts states." They draw this conclusion from the fact that, while they were in the wilderness, the Israelites of old kept within this distance from the Holy Tabernacle, whither they walked on the Sabbath day to worship God.

PENTECOST

The feast of the Holy Trinity (otherwise, Pentecost) is dedicated to the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles on the fiftieth day after the Resurrection of Christ. This event brought into existence the Church of Christ and gave rise to the Christian faith on earth. On the feast of Pentecost the Church brings its children to the doors of its spiritual life and appeals to them to renew and strengthen in themselves the gifts of the Holy Spirit given to them in Baptism. Spiritual life of an individual is impossible without God's grace, which possesses the mysterious power of rebirth and transforms the whole of the Christian's inward life. However lofty and valuable his desire might be, it will be fulfilled by the Holy Spirit. That is why the feast of Pentecost is always so joyfully celebrated by Orthodox Christians. The descent of the Holy Spirit was not an unexpected event for the Apostles. As far back as a few centuries before the Savior's birth God began to prepare people for the day of their spiritual rebirth. He promised through his prophets: "It shall come to pass afterward, that I shall pour out My Spirit on all flesh ... With joy you will draw water from the well of salvation ... For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground ... A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone, and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes and observe and carry out My judgements" (Joel 2: 28; Is. 12: 3, 44:3; Ezek. 11:19-20).When preparing to return to His heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus Christ in His farewell talk informed the Apostles about the forthcoming descent of the Holy Spirit. He explained to the disciples that the Comforter, that is, the Holy Spirit, would come soon to them to fulfill the mission of salvation: "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, to be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth ... He will teach you everything and remind you of everything that I say unto you ... He, the Spirit of Truth, which proceeds from the Father, will bear witness of Me"

(John 14: 16-17, 26; 15: 26) After the events of outrage, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, which the Apostles took deeply to their hearts, they became quite different people. They grew stronger spiritually and matured to accept the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It was then that God's mercy came to them in its fullness and they were the first to enjoy the spiritual fruits of the salutary feat of the God-Man. Fifty days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and ten days after His Ascension to Heaven, the disciples of Jesus, together with the Blessed Virgin Mary, some of the pious women and other believers, 120 persons in all, gathered in Jerusalem in a so-called "Zion chamber." They were probably in the same room where the Lord, not long before His sufferings, performed the Last Supper. The Apostles were awaiting the fulfillment of the Savior's will to send them "the Father's Promise" and strengthen them with divine power, although they did not understand yet exactly what that meant.

Meanwhile, this sound, as if from a mighty wind, drew lots of people to the Apostles' house. Having seen people gathering from everywhere, the Apostles, rendering gratitude and praises to Almighty God in their prayers, appeared on the balcony of the house. On hearing the prayers, all those gathered around the house were amazed by the event, which was utterly incomprehensible to them. Christ's disciples, mostly Galilean in origin, had little education and were not expected to speak tongues other than their own. But now, after the miracle, they were speaking many foreign languages so that, however diverse the crowd of people might be (for they came to Jerusalem from different countries), they all heard their native tongues. There happened to be some cynics among the crowd who laughed at godly preachers and dared to say that the Apostles had become drunk from wine. But in reality the power of the Holy Spirit, besides other inner favorable changes, was being revealed by the extraordinary gift of tongues so that the Apostles would be able to propagate the Gospel more successfully among different nations without the need to learn foreign languages.

Most of the people who were listening to Saint Peter were touched deeply in their souls, and they asked him, "What shall we do now?" "Repent," was Peter's answer, "and be baptized every one

of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit." Many of them came to believe in Christ after the words of Peter, repented publicly their sins and were baptized. So by the evening of the same day the Christian Church increased from 120 to 3000 believers. This miraculous event gave rise to the existence of the Christian Church, the blessed community of believers summoned to save their souls. Jesus Christ promised that His Church would be invincible against the gates of Hell until the very end of the existence of the world.

Now the Spirit of Truth became the guide of believers for their journey to Heaven, and the source of their spiritual freedom and inspiration.
