LIFE CIRCLE

The Life Circle will

meet on June 12th at

5:30 p.m. in the Par-

lor. This meeting will

be a social event and our study will

resume in September. Please bring a

brown bag dinner.

During the month of May, we organized a Bible Study at CNS, or Centre For Nuero Skills, where one of our members resides. A story telling approach is being used as well as music and arts and crafts, somewhat like what’s done in the Joy Class. The class has a wide range of abilities, from people who can converse with you to others who can not speak or who can speak only a small amount. It is a great experience and a wonderful way to extend the ministry of St. Philip Presbyterian Church Adult Education throughout the community and surrounding areas.

Our thanks to Kathleen Fullenwider who is leading these classes. We are asking for volunteers to assist Kathleen. From experience, it is an extremely rewarding time. Adult Education sponsors this on a yearly basis.

If you would like to be part of this committee, contact the church or any of the Committee Members: Donna Jowell, Alissa King, Donna Macleod, Margaret Baker, Patty O’Brien, and Fran Noakes.

St. Philip Recognized and Celebrated by

Meals on Wheels Rev. Garis received a special recognition from Meals on Wheels last month. St. Philip has been a pick-up site for 30 years. Not only did Greg receive a certificate, but a special brick will be placed in the sidewalk of the Meals on Wheels facility in Fort Worth. Special thanks to all the volunteers of St. Philip that have delivered meals and special thanks to the staff and pastors of the past that helped facilitate this wonderful ministry. Also, special thanks to Mitzi Cimino who currently acts as a contact person for Meals on Wheels.

This June is a great chance to consider being a part of the Sanctuary Choir. Rehearsals will be from 9:15 a.m., just before each of the services in June. No prior singing experience is required! It will be a great way for new singers to participate without a weeknight commitment and get to know me, your new Director of Music. We would love to have you! If you are interested, you can speak to me or Vern!

Thanks! Joshua Brown

GUESTS ARE WELCOME!

3rd Sunday = Undy Sunday

Our own Charlotte Staples started the non-profit, "CC’s Carry Ons." She has worked as a foster parent, as a caseworker for CPS, and now is a local attorney representing children in the CPS foster system. She needs our help. By providing items for first night bags, children can enter their first placement with new underpants, socks, pajamas and diapers and wipes if they need them. CPS has already been picking up these bags and distributing them among the 46 CPS Investigation units in Tarrant County. This means children spend their first night in clean clothes. We can’t fix everything for every child, but we can take better care of our most vulnerable population during this time of crisis for them. The 3rd Sunday of each month at St. Philip will now be known as Undy Sunday!! We will collect new pajamas, underpants, socks and t-shirts for these First Night Bags, to ease the transition of these children on their first night into foster care! Undershirts and soft shorts are fine pajamas for teens. All will be put to use, from toddler to teen.

*****May 21st, is 3rd Sunday!*****

What is needed most at this time is size 10-14 undershirts for boy’s pj tops. Not teen, but boys in 5th and 6th grades.

Also needed are girls pj sizes 8, 10 & 12. All donations are tax deductible. If you prefer checks can be written to CC's Carry Ons or to St. Philip with foster care or CC's Carry Ons in the memo.

You may purchase a bear after the worship service on Oak Terrace on the above listed dates. Please make checks payable to SPPC.
