A vacancy has arisen in the Children’s Unit at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for an Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner at Band 7 level to join our team. At present we have 3 qualified Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Our unit consists of an outpatient department, ambulatory care unit and an acute paediatric ward. We care for children requiring both medical and surgical nursing whilst working closely with the Neonatal Unit, Accident and Emergency department and Theatre Recovery and the tertiary centres in Edinburgh and Glasgow

You will be required to be a qualified Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner with recent experience of working as an APNP. You will be required to work within a multidisciplinary team being accountable for the delivery of specialised episodes of care. Excellent communication skills and multi-disciplinary working are essential

An opportunity has arisen for suitably experienced Mental Health Nurses to join the Band 6 Charge Nurses in the Unscheduled Care Assessment Team (UCAT) based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital.

UCAT provide, in collaboration with medical staff colleagues, a response to all episodes of unscheduled mental health care in Fife. This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week service. The Team also supply Charge Nurse support to the Acute Ward at Whyteman’s Brae, out of hours.

This post is attached to the Forensic Community Mental Health Team, Dunfermline, though you will also liaise with colleagues in the low secure unit based at Stratheden and will be expected to travel to clinics and professional meetings throughout Fife.

With the current national development of the GP clinical pharmacist role, these posts will support GP Practices to undertake a range of roles, including medicines reconciliation, discharge letters, acute and repeat prescription requests, undertaking polypharmacy reviews in care homes, patients’ own homes or in a homely setting. These posts would suit pharmacists with experience of hospital, primary care or community pharmacy with limited clinical experience (Band 7) and pharmacists with considerable clinical experience and who have supervised or trained other staff (Band 8a).

For either post, you will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council.

For the band 7 post, it is essential that you are willing to complete both the diploma and independent prescribing qualification within an agreed timescale, as well undertaking clinical assessment skills and consultations skills training.

For the band 8a post, it is essential that you have either: a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy/ prescribing sciences or be an independent prescriber. We are looking for two Consultant Neonatologists to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to babies and their families.

You will join a close-knit team of neonatologists and general paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment.

We are a level 3 neonatal unit based in the Victoria Hospital with six ITU/HDU cots and 14 special care cots with the unit admitting around 450 infants per year. The birth rate in NHS Fife is approximately 3500 per year. We are part of the SE Scotland neonatal Managed Clinical Network. Badgernet has been in operation in the unit for the past 3 years and the maternity system is about to start up in August 2016. The unit delivers therapeutic hypothermia, HFOV and inhaled nitric oxide therapies and cares for infants of any gestation. Only surgical and cardiac neonates are routinely transferred elsewhere for treatment. We have regularly run Newborn Life Support courses for all new nurses and medical staff since 2003.

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining specialist registration at the time of interview. Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. MRCPCH (or equivalent) is also essential.

The Newly Qualified Practitioner Flying Start ‘Rolling Programme’ is offered throughout NHS Fife by the Practice & Professional Development Department (Nursing and Midwifery Practice Education Facilitators and the AHP Practice Education Lead). These 4 sessions offer you support and guidance about getting started and progression through Flying Start, as well as putting you in touch with other practitioners participating in the programme.
