I had the great opportunity of interviewing the great, Alizabeth Ann Westergaard. She was

born on August 22nd, and is currently 11 years old. I also learned that her favorite food is

steak and her favorite color is purple. Her favorite Junior High School teacher is Mrs. Thill,

and her favorite subject is lunch. I also found out that her favorite sport is softball, and her

shoe size is 9. Her “bae” is Tanner Braungardt. With some extra time, I also learned that she

loves to cut her nose hairs, and she doesn’t believe in unicorns. Also, her favorite word is ka-

zoo because it is “fun to say”. Her best friends are Livia Esser and Braden Jacobs. It was great

getting to know a little more about Ali in this short amount of time we had together, but could

always find out more.

I interviewed Ethan Fye a soon to be 8th grader. I found out his favorite color is

green . The most important part of his mind I tapped into, was what type of people he

likes. Those character traits loyal and trustworthy people. Which indicates he is a

person who like the trustworthiness of a friend and the loyalty of a person who re-

spects him. I have also found out his favorite animal and sport those two are, a tiger

and football. We can easily see him playing next year when he starts his season. I

enjoyed interviewing Ethan Fye.

I have gotten the amazing privilege to get to know Ella Elizabeth Wolfrom.

Ella has two dogs named Gator and Ruby, with Ruby being her favorite. Dur-

ing the summer, Ella will be taking many trips to Freeport for Starbucks. Ella

loves playing volleyball with her best friend Sidney Marie Weegens. Ella is

14 years old and her birthday is on March 13, 2003. Ella has a very LARGE

obsession with Kris Bryant. She has one sister name Cadie.

Student Leadership is an excellent way to help out in the community, it is for that reason I am once

again applying to join. I have experience from the previous year, so I can help the newest leaders. This

summer I helped in various places around the town. In the up coming year, I am hoping to be able to

improve the school by offering suggestions to expand the music and art programs. The science pro-

gram is also lacking some things that I feel student leadership could provide. Lastly I am a straight A

student and I get all of my work done in a timely and orderly fashion.

Last year I was a Student Leader and I learned a lot from the experience. This year I could

help 6th grade students work concessions and do other activities. I know this can be helpful because

last year it took awhile to learn the ropes. At the beginning of last year it was difficult for me to figure

out what elementary school classroom to help in. I was lucky enough to have an incredibly helpful

student leadership class to help me. I would really like to be able to assist a peer like that.

I had a very busy summer filled with activities. Most of those included helping around Lena.

Earlier this summer I helped several days at the catholic church preparing for the strawberry social. A

few months later the public library held a carnival, so I organized a group of kids and helped all day.

In June I served cheese to the public for national dairy month. That is only a little bit of the communi-

ty service I did on break.

Music is a very important part in learning. Studies have shown that music can help children

thrive in other subjects. This is happens because art and music use different parts of the brain that

aren’t used in everyday lives. Kids learn different parts of history, literature and even math. Our

school should definitely invest in these programs, as they are proven to be worth the effort. Student

leadership can help with this idea by organizing a fundraiser to pay for the extra supplies.

Science plays a huge part in society today. Many kids at the school will more than likely go

into a field of science. I've spoken with some of the junior high school science teachers who feel that

the junior high science labs would benefit from a few things. I feel Student Leadership would have an

opportunity to provide these items through fundraising

I am a very responsible person. I have several different types of livestock. I have to feed eve-

ryday twice a day no matter the weather. I never forget my homework and always turn it in on time. I

babysit my little brother on an almost daily basis. While babysitting I make sure that we eat at the ap-

propriate times and do our chores everyday. I am currently training a two year old filly to show on the

AQHA breed circuit. It is my hope to qualify for Novice Championships. My mom drives 45 minutes

down to the training barn 3 times a week. Responsibility is a big part of Student Leadership and I feel

I reflect this quality.

My experiences qualify me to be a good Student Leader. Last I enjoyed my time as a Student

Leader and I hope to participate again this year. All in all I think is a great opportunity for me. I appre-

ciate your consideration for Student Leadership.

Hello my name is Taylor Ditzler Amill. I would like to be a part of this year’s

student Leadership committee 2016-17. I was in student leadership the previous

year. I enjoy helping others especially for our school and community. I am al-

ways available for anything you will need help with. I also have great fundraiser

ides. If I get in I could even come up with more. Let me explain why I want to

be a student leader.

I want to be a student leader because I enjoy helping others. I have help with

many events in the past years. I helped at the Lena Living Center for a special

dinner event. I had to make food and serve the elderly and their relative’s food,

drinks, and desert. I have also helped with the drive through benefit to raise

money for cancer at the Lena Living Center. I have also cleaned up trash with

my brother outside of Stockton IL. The last thing I helped with was Winslow

River Days. I cleaned up trash at the park District.

Next I have had some experience with fundraising. Some ideas I have are

Bake Sales. We could Bake treats and have a stand set up for people by treats. I

could be there for anything because I live right across the street from school. I

am not in sports accept for soft ball so I have a lot of time for student leadership.

Finally that is why I want to be a student leader. I am willing to do whatever it

takes to do this. I get a/b average every quarter. I hope u like my essay. Thank

you

I would like to be a student leader because I want to help make the school the best it can be. I

think our school is good, but it can always be better! I would like to become more active in helping

the community and school. I’d also like to improve my leadership skills and I think that by participat-

ing in Le-Win Student Leadership I will learn a lot.

I feel I am a responsible and reliable student. I try to set good examples and always do my

best. The past two years I have received the Citizenship Award, and the past three years I received the

Presidential Award for getting all A’s. I have been in the all school spelling bee the past four years,

and won first place last year. I represented our school at the District Spelling Bee in Pearl City. As a

7th grader, I won the award for being the top Science student.

This past summer, I volunteered to be a group leader to work with the preschoolers at St.

John’s Lutheran Church’s Vacation Bible School. I was responsible for playing games with the kids,

and helping them move around to the various activities. I also volunteer to run the sound board at

church for the services.

Last year, me along with 3 other Student Leaders, help a special needs child start the day off

right by walking him down to breakfast and giving him a high five. Over the summer I helped my

mom take care of my 8-month old cousin along with 2 of my other cousins. I am involved in many

different extra-curricular activities. I am currently playing football, and I also love basketball and par-

ticipate in The Academic Bowl. Outside of school sports, I have played baseball for several years.

Some ideas I have for helping the community are a canned food and winter clothes drive for

the needy and to adopt a family in need at Christmas time to provide gifts for them.

For the past two years I have had a lot of fun going down to the elementary to give the teach-

ers an extra hand. I hope I can do the same this year. Last year I learned a lot about how to be a better

leader and stick up for the people that are getting treated unfairly. However, some students still get

bullied. If I get elected again this year I hope I can help out with this problem. Sometimes when stu-

dents get bullied, they feel scared and alone. My idea is that if someone sees someone getting bullied,

they can tell one of the Student Leadership students. I think this would stop bullying because some-

times ids are afraid to tell teachers because if the bully catches the up-stander telling the teacher then

that could cause even more problems potentially. However, if an up stander tells a Student Leader

there might not be as big of an issue. The up stander probably wouldn’t be as scared to tell a peer.

Plus, when the bully gets punished by the teacher he wouldn’t be able to blame it on Student leaders

can usually stick up for themselves a little bit better than most students.

Thank you for considering me for Student Leadership. I hope I can help make the school bet-

ter than ever.

I would be a great student leader for many reasons. I love helping people whenever I can. I

am nice to everyone. I am willing to serve the students and the community. I enjoy doing the right

thing.

Last year I was a student leader and helped a preschool boy in the elementary school get to

breakfast three mornings a week. I really liked helping him. If someone is having a bad day or is up-

set, I try to help them by including them and talking to them. When my teachers need help, I volun-

teer. I like to help others.

I am nice to everyone. I treat everyone fairly. I include everyone. If someone is being picked

on, I will tell the person who is picking on them to stop. I am not afraid to stand up for what is right.

Last year I was fortunate enough to be selected for the Citizenship Award.

I am a good student who tries to get all A’s. I work hard and always try my best. I am willing

to help out and work for the students and school. I have volunteered many times to work concession

stand for junior high games, tournaments, and dances. I can be counted on to do what I say I will do.

If I am selected as a student leader this year, I will volunteer to work at the concession stand

for school events, I will look forward to working at the soup kitchen, helping with fundraisers, and

participating in anything that student leadership does. I can be counted on to keep good grades and to

be a positive role model for other students.

I would make the school a positive place by not letting bullies pick on other kids and by help-

ing students make positive choices. I would also be involved in all types of school activities such as

participating in sports and attending other events to support other teams and students.

Some ideas I have for Student Leadership are to have a toy drive for kids in December so they

have gifts for Christmas. Another idea is to have a Bear/Packer party at school. I think many kids

would attend and be exited to participate. I think it would fun to have a kickball tournament too. Stu-

dent leaders could tutor kids during guided studies.

I enjoyed being a Student Leader last year and really hope to be selected this year. I will work

hard, and be a good role model, and be counted on to help the school and community. I will do my

best to be a great student leader.
