• What is Resiliency and Why Does it Matter?
– The Army recognizes five dimensional areas that define Soldier strength;
physical, emotional, social, and spiritual, and Family.
– Mental fitness is as equally important as physical fitness.
– Building resilient Soldiers that are capable of meeting any of the diverse missions
makes the Army stronger.
• How does this Affect Area I?
– Beginning July 1, 2013 the Commander’s Cup Recognition Program will
incorporate the five dimensions of strength as evaluating criteria for the
Commander’s Cup Trophy.
– Tenant units will be evaluated on their participation and achievement in resiliency
building programs in addition to physical fitness events.

– Participation in FMWR Events, BOSS Activities, Warrior Adventure Quest, First
Sergeant’s Barracks Program, The Army Continuing Education Program, Army
Sports Program, ASAP Training, Spiritual Retreats, and Volunteer Work
• How Will This Be Implemented?
– Participation and achievement in existing programs in Area I will be recorded
through the Garrison Command.
– Units will receive points based on participation and achievement.
– The Unit with the most points in December 2013, will be awarded the
Commander’s Trophy.
