Chickens as pets and an egg source, in keeping with environmental sustainability, food security, education and community building mandates of the municipality of North Vancouver
People are more conscious of where their food is coming from; planting gardens, buying local & organic, using natural fertilizers, collecting rain water

Chickens As:Gardeners - Naturally deal with pests and weeds, as well as aerate the soil
Fertilizers - Chicken Manure is a highly regarded additive to soil and composts
Composters - The reduction of municipal solid waste through the consumption of table scraps and other organic waste by chickens
Food producers - Eggs provide the opportunity for citizens to have access to an affordable, safe and nutrient-rich food source

Teachers - Chickens provide education about where our food comes from
Pets - Provide valuable opportunity to practice responsible pet ownership
