If you have no idea what Im talking about then you have not spent much time with our 2017 senior class. I was first asked the question on the Sunday we left for Maywood Camp. Marshall Dyer, with Iphone in hand was the one who asked. It seems the question began with Dimitri Sims while the teens were at Uplift at Harding. It has since taken on a life of its own. This question has become almost a banner for this year s graduates and those who are a part of this years youth group. I hope it stays with them for the rest of their lives. I would, however, like to offer a focus for the question. It comes from the Apostle Paul. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:14 NAU) Are you uplift ready? Are you ready to be lifted to the upward call of God in Christ Jesus? I hope the class of 2017 keeps that question constantly on their minds and the minds of those around them. I hope they use it to remind themselves and all of us to be uplift ready. To be ready to press on toward the goal of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Are you uplift ready?!! -Dewayne Adventure Club/Pre-Teen Super Summer Send Off: Saturday August 5, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the gym. The Hurricane Is Coming

Luke 6:49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.” (NASB) How do we prepare when a storm is coming? When I was 12 years old I witnessed my first hurricane. It was a category 5 named Gilbert (Gilberto). It hit land with 125 mph winds. I remember my parents scrambling to secure every door, they brought everything we owned that was outside inside the house. They boarded the windows and stocked our food pantry. Eight hours later, many homes were destroyed and many lives were lost. In its path from Jamaica to the United States 318 people were killed. Jesus wants to warn us about the incoming storm. Oh, it’s coming! We can not avoid it. No matter who we are the storm is going to hit us. Depending where you have laid your foundation, your house will either stand or fall. Jesus wants us to build our foundation on him. We need to build a firm foundation, not the house itself. The house will be built by God. Build your foundation on Jesus! - David
