BEGINNING BAND LESSONS

*required for current 5th grade students who are enrolled in band for 6th grade*

It’s the time your child has been waiting for – learning how to play a band instrument!!! Summer lessons are the perfect way for your child to begin learning to play his/her instrument. We meet in small groups, divided by instrument, so students can begin to learn basic instrument care, playing technique, breathing, posture and music reading!!! Lessons will take place in the CHS music room during the normal summer school dates/times. The fee for the class ($8 for instrument or $11 for percussion) pays for the lesson book your child will receive at lessons – this book is theirs to keep and will also have some workspace/assignments for them to complete. Please make sure your child is signed up to the correct class dates and times according to his/her instrument. Percussion students are the only ones who should attend both sessions so they have a chance to work on both mallet and rhythm percussion parts (they will also be getting 2 books). Session 1: Woodwinds & Percussion Session 2: Brass & Percussion Hour 1: Flutes/Oboes Hour 1: Trumpets Hour 2: Clarinets Hour 2: F Horns Hour 3: Saxophones Hour 3: Trombones/Baritones Hour 4: Percussion: Mallets Hour 4: Percussion: Rhythm If your child will be on vacation for part of this summer school time, please still sign them up – some lesson time is much better than no lesson time! If your child is not available for any of the summer lesson time, I will be in contact with you later in July or early August about possibly doing some lessons during the August Jump Start time. Please contact me at [email protected] or 423-7335 ext. 2151 if you have any questions prior to registration. Musically yours, Colleen Larsen
