We’re expecting an amazing summer, full of sports, swimming, and lots of other activities.

Attached is a camper information form; this form ensures we get all the information we can to provide them with the best camp experience possible. Please take the time to complete this form with as much information as possible (one for each child). We ask that you take the time to review the information provided in our Parent Package, as we have added new key pieces of information you will find useful over the course of the summer!

General Camp Information Youth Camp - Senior is a program specifically designed for the 9-12 year old age group. We strive to meet the needs specific to this age group, with a variety of games and activities. There will be camp leaders assisting throughout the summer to ensure each child is provided with everything they need for a fun-filled summer Leader/camper ratios will be 1:12

Code of Conduct There are four agreements which each and every camper is expected to abide by at camp:

It is our utmost priority to provide campers with an environment where they can build self-confidence, make new friends, and get the best possible camp experience. We encourage open communication between staff, campers and parent/guardians. Please inform us of any family or behavioral issues concerning your child(ren). Our staff will make every effort to accommodate your child’s needs. Staff reserves the right to dismiss any participant who is, in the staff’s opinion, a hazard to the safety and rights of others or who appears to have rejected reasonable controls of the program. In the event of an incident, we may be required to fill out a Managing Behaviour and Code of Conduct form (see attached), which will specify any disciplinary actions required.

Camp Schedules Senior camp will follow a weekly schedule focused on being active and outdoors. Each week will include ice skating, roller skating (for the month of July), walks to local parks, swimming, sports and lots of fun activities. Every day we will be playing different sports, and lots of fun variations of traditional games. In addition to our weekly schedule, each week will feature a special event or trip.

Weekly Highlights and Extra Fees Listed below are optional activities. If a camper does not wish to participate or has not paid the additional fee – other camp activities will be run. Roller Skating - Every Monday and Thursday in July! This will be held at the Community Centre, FREE of charge! If your child wishes to participate in roller skating, it is mandatory to wear a helmet! Alternate activities will be held should they choose not to participate. Bring a helmet on Monday’s and Thursday’s in July to participate! Pizza Making @ Boston Pizza – Thursday, July 12th and August 16th Campers will go to Boston Pizza and prepare their own personal pizza alongside their pizza chefs! This event will take place INSTEAD of ordering Domino’s Pizza on these days. This activity will have an additional cost of $5.90 (each day) that can be paid at the time of registration. Campers not wishing to participate will be able to eat lunch at the Community Centre. Canada’s Wonderland – Tuesday, August 14th Campers will be able to join in on an optional bus trip to Canada’s Wonderland for a cost of $65+tax. This trip will require all attending to arrive at 8am, and we are expecting to return at 5:30pm. Day camp fee does apply as campers will require Youth Leader supervision, campers must be 10 years or older to attend. Bring your Bike to Camp – Thursday July 19th and Thursday August 16th Campers can bring their bike to camp for a fun filled day of cycling adventures. We’ll visit parks and explore the local trails. Listed below are MANDATORY events, any additional costs are specified and must be paid at the time of registration. On the dates listed, the events run are highlights of the day that all campers are to participate in if registered. Broadway Cinemas – Wednesday July 25th and Wednesday, August 22nd Campers will be visiting Broadway Cinemas to take in an afternoon movie; there is an additional cost of $12.00, which includes popcorn and a drink. The Factory – Indoor Adventure Park Bus Trip – Friday, August 10th Campers will be visiting Canada’s biggest, and newly opened indoor adventure park, The Factory, in London. We’ll get experience a huge indoor playground, Ninja Warrior style rope course, virtual reality pods and more. There will be an extra fee of $15.00.

Campers Olympics – Friday, July 27th Campers will be participating in the Tillsonburg Campers Olympic Games, where campers will compete in the various events that we practiced throughout the week. Salthaven Wildlife – Wednesday, August 8nd. Salthaven focuses on introducing people to the uniqueness and diversity of Ontario wildlife and works to help sick, injured or orphaned wild animals. Children at a young age can be inspired from within to develop a lasting passion for improving the environment. There will be an additional cost of $3.00 that can be paid at the time of registration. All proceeds collected will be going toward helping sick, injured or orphaned wild animals and birds that are rehabilitated at Salthaven and given as an honorarium. Frisbee Golf – Thursday, August 16th Campers will riding their bikes to Coronation Park to play Frisbee golf on their 18 hole course. Friday Food Fiasco Dayz!- Friday, July 6th , July 20th , August 3rd , August 24th & August 31st On these Fridays, both camps will have the opportunity to try out their culinary skills in the Senior Centre kitchen, making delicious, creative snacks that follow the theme of the week! There will be an additional fee of $4.00 that can be paid at the time of registration. The Great Leader Challenge– Wednesday, August 29th. Campers will take on the Leaders in a series of skill testing games; campers will need all of their wit, cunning, endurance and might to prevail! End of Summer Pajama Day – Friday, August 31st. Celebrating the end of summer, campers are invited to wear their favourite PJs. We’ll play all sorts of classic camp games, and end the camp season with a bang!

Campers Checklist

Lunch and Snacks Please pack a nutritious lunch, extra snacks, juice and a water bottle. Please bring a PEANUT FREE LUNCH and SNACKS. Sun Safety Items Campers must bring sunscreen of a SPF 30 or higher, a hat and sunglasses to camp each day. Sunscreen will be re-applied through the day. Bathing Suit and Towel We visit Lake Lisgar Waterpark on a daily basis for swimming; please bring a bathing suit and towel. Play Clothing & Running Shoes We spend the majority of the day outside, please ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather and camp activities

Sign In / Out Procedures Sign in/Out will be located at the Memorial Arena. For the safety of your child(ren), all parents and care-givers are required to sign their child(dren) in and out daily. This also gives our staff an opportunity to meet you and allow time for you to make us aware of any special instructions you may have pertaining to your child’s needs. Children are not permitted to leave without being signed out. Written permission and identification will be required if a child is to be picked up by another person. Attached is the Caregiver Permission Form that we ask you to fill out, which will let us know who has been given permission to pick up your child at the end of the day.

Nut Free Policy

While it is impossible to guarantee a peanut-free environment, the Town of Tillsonburg’s first priority is the safety of our participants. Due to the growing number of severe nut-related allergies, we ask parent/ guardian’s cooperation. Please DO NOT send peanut butter, nuts or foods that contain nut by-products with your camper. Thank you for your help with this serious matter.

Summer Camp Staff Our leaders have been carefully selected for their enthusiasm and skills. All of our Leaders have been trained in High Five, First Aid, CPR, AED and WHMIS. All staff at Lake Lisgar and the indoor pool is certified with their National Lifeguard Award, First Aid, CPR, AED and WHMIS. Along with these certifications, we ensure all of our staff is trained specifically for our camp programs.

Camper Belongings We encourage our campers to label all of their belongings with their name in order to avoid losing them. Please do not send your camper with toys, money (unless for camp-related purchases), electronics, card games of any kind, or sharp objects. We cannot be responsible for any valuables brought to camp. Occasionally your camper may be requested to bring specific items for special crafts or activities.

Youth Camp Tuck Shop Tuck shop is a service for all campers during our Waterpark time. This service provides campers with the opportunity to purchase snacks or treats from our snack bar. Please DO NOT send money to camp! A credit will be put on your child’s account and our Youth leaders monitor the amount that each child spends. Only money on your account will be used, purchases that exceed the money placed on your account will not be permitted.

Pizza Lunch Every Thursday, we offer Domino’s Pizza lunch. This is available to all campers for a cost of $5.90 that can be paid at the customer service desk. This will include juice and chips.

Medical Information The Camp Health Form regarding medication/allergies/special needs of your child(ren) is included in this package and can be left at the customer service desk at the time of registration. This needs to be completed before participation in our Day Camp Program.

EpiPens and Inhalers We request that any camper requiring an EpiPen or inhaler, please bring it in a separate fanny pack or bag that they can wear all day. Please check the expiration dates on the supplies prior to the start of camp. Let your child’s leader know that there is an EpiPen/inhaler and where it is kept.

Waterpark Swim Times A great way to cool off on those hot summer days! ATTENTION PARENTS – please provide sunscreen for your camper. Please ensure all forms (medical, caregiver permission) are handed to, or specifically addressed to Brooklynn VanHaelewyn. You will receive a follow up call to let you know this information has been received if your child has an allergy or medical concern. If there are no concerns, you will not receive a call.

Costing Information $32.60 per day or $131.60 per week; $106.10 for a short week A 30% discount is offered for an additional child on a week-long camp. Extra charges may apply for special events and off-site trips Refunds and Credits @ Customer Service Desk In order to receive a refund on a weekly OR daily camp, you must let the customer service desk know before 9:00am of the scheduled day of camp. A $15.00 administration fee will be applied to all refund requests. Customers can leave a full credit on their account, in which case, no fee is charged.

Managing Behaviour and Code of Conduct

Problem Solving: When working to guide participant behaviour, staff will first employ problem solving techniques to help participants understand the consequences of their behaviour. Behavioural concerns will be communicated with the parent/guardian. If problem solving shows insufficient results for maintaining a safe, constructive environment for all, staff will implement the following procedures. Behaviour Discipl ine

Step One: The participant will be required to sit out for a period of time, and the parent/legal guardian will be informed of the behaviour.

Step Two: The participant will sit out again and parents/legal guardian will be notified that a third infraction will result in a suspension

Step Three: The participant will be suspended a full day. Step Four: The participant will be suspended for a full week of camp. Step Five: The participant will be suspended for the duration of the season.

Discipl inary actions are progressive irrespective of the behaviour with the exception of Zero Tolerance incidents. Zero Tolerance
