NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2013 EAGLE’S Dear Families, January was certainly an eventful month for HCCS students. Let me begin by thanking our volunteers who came to support our breakfast fundraiser. We appreciate you and raised over $800! A special thanks to Jan Lunt, Kari Loomis and our PTSO for hosting the event at Applebee’s. Our HCCS middle school students did a fantastic job presenting their musical talents to our families. Our orchestra and choir showcased several musical numbers that they have been practicing all fall and winter long. Great job kids! With snow, ice and fog, I’d like to remind us all to be cautious when dropping off or picking up students, especially in our parking lot and near the crosswalks in front of the school. Please drive carefully, obey traffic rules, and give our supervisors and students a wide berth. Be aware that in the case of future snow days, information regarding our school closure can be found on the school web site, as well as local news channels and radio stations. Lastly, with the end of first semester and the start of second semester, a few noteworthy events have taken place. Report cards have been sent home. Please take time with your student to celebrate successes or create a plan for improving this semester. If you have any questions regarding your child, please feel free to contact his or her teacher. Also, middle school students have had a “Study Skills” class embedded into their schedule this semester during 7 th period. We are focusing on Math and Reading during that hour, and every student will be assigned to a different classroom. Our hope is that each student will find a challenge in those core subjects, so as to provide an appropriate level of rigor in their learning here at school. We’re excited about the potential this class has to impact ALL students in a positive way! Thank you for all you do to support our students and our school.
