    How you learnWhilst studying in the department, youwill

    spend anaverage ofabout eight hours aweek

    in face-to-face teaching, the rest of your study

    How you are assessedMostmodules are assessedbymeans of a

    mixtureof essays andexaminations. Typically,

    amodule inYear Twomight involve a 4,000

    wordessay ora 2,500word essay plus

    a one hour examination.Somemodules are

    assessedwholly or in part byother appropriate

    means, suchas the preparation ofprojects

    and individual or grouppresentations.The finaldegreeclass isbased onYear Twoand Three

    marks,weighted in favour ofYear Threemarks.
