APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

ASSOCIATIONS WITH RESEARCH CENTRES AT UNB

• MA applicants should hold an undergraduate major or honours degree in sociology, or equivalent, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (B+). Students with an undergraduate degree in a different discipline may be considered following completion of additional courses. • PhD applicants should hold a MA in sociology (usually with a thesis), or equivalent. Those without a MA in sociology may be considered or asked to complete a qualifying year with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 (A-).• All applicants are expected to submit: • 600-word statement indicating research interests and reason for selecting UNB • Writing sample (undergraduate paper or a thesis chapter) • Official academic transcript • Three letters of reference • Curriculum vitae• Applicants should contact sociology faculty members to ascertain availability and interest in becoming a supervisor. • Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to submit language scores of IELTS band 7.5, or equivalent.
