Surrounding Area Bologna is the capital city of the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy and is neatly situated a short distance away from Milan, Florence, Venice and San Marino. Its Piazza Maggiore is a sprawling plaza lined with arched colonnades, cafes and medieval and Renaissance structures such as City Hall, the Fountain of Neptune and the Basilica di San Petronio. Accommodation Students attending the University of Bologna use SAIS (Student Accommodation and Information Service) to help them find accommodation in the city. It offers a mixture of student residences and private accommodation.
