Its history is intertwined with that of the great names of science and literature, it is a keystone and a point of reference for European culture. The School of Medicine is based in the S.Orsola-Malpighi teaching hospital, one of the historical hospitals of Bologna, which is located in the very heart of the city. We offer 22 degree programmes covering the areas of Medicine, Dentistry, Health Professions, and Medical Biotechnology; our postgraduate portfolio includes 45 Specialisation Schools and 5 PhD programmes. Teaching activities are delivered by an academic and research staff of 450; we also have agreements with teaching hospitals in Bologna, such as IOR-Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli and Ospedale Bellaria, as well as in the Romagna area of the region for students enrolled on degree programmes delivered by the Campus branches of the University of Bologna. More than 6000 students are currently enrolled on our programmes, and more than 100 incoming exchange students every year choose us as their host institution.
