What sort of tests are there and what do they test?
Why do we test?
STRENGTH
1rm/ 3rm• Bench press• Back Squat• Front Squat• Chins
Advantages and disadvantages of different tests: eg cost, time, equipment requirement, facilityrequirements, skill level of person carrying out test, issues with test validity, issues with test reliability
STRENGTH
AEROBIC ENDURANCE
• MSFT (Bleep Test)
• Yo-yo test

Advantages and disadvantages of different tests: eg cost, time, equipment requirement, facilityrequirements, skill level of person carrying out test, issues with test validity, issues with test reliability
AEROBIC ENDURANCE
Activities during an average 90 minutes
standingwalkingjoggingrunningsprinting

SPEED
Is often measured using straight line speed over 10m and 30m
It is normally done with timing gates to get exact times, averages can be given as well as top scores to outline players maximal speeds. This can also be completed with stop watches as long as the recorders are switched on!
Advantages and disadvantages of different tests:
SPEED
POWER
CMJ
Squat jump

CMJ, Squat Jump shows rate of force production, how much power can you produce quickly! (hopefully will be able to do this!)

Advantages and disadvantages of different tests:
BODY COMPOSITION
Body fat %
This is calculated using a set of callipers, skin folds are taken from various sites (4 or 7)
This is then put through a calculation along with their age to give a body fat %
Body height, Body weight
