College Advantage ProgramSt. John’s University’s commitment to academic excellence is manifested through our College Advantage Program. This program allows high-achieving students to enroll in approved courses at their high school while earning credit from St. John’s. A wide variety of courses are currently offered in English, mathematics, language, fine arts, science, social sciences and humanities.

BENEFITS OF ENROLLING• Get a head start on college since you earn college credit while still

attending high school• Credit is transferable to certain other colleges and universities, should you

choose not to attend St. John’s following your high school graduation• Courses are offered at a reduced tuition rate• Courses are taught during the academic year at your high school by your

own high school’s faculty• You will receive access to the St. John’s University library as well as special

invitations to University programs and campus events• You will be eligible for a special academic scholarship should you choose

to enroll at St. John’s following high school graduation

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSCollege Advantage is offered to qualified high school juniors and seniors during the academic year.

If you are a high school senior, you must have an 80% average or better in the five basic academic subjects and a combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1000 (or 100 on the PSAT), or an ACT score of 21. Seniors may enroll in up to three courses (or nine credits) a semester in the areas of English, math, language, fine arts, science, social sciences and humanities.

If you are a high school junior, you must have an 85% average and a combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1000 (or 100 on the PSAT). Juniors may enroll in up to three courses (or nine credits) a semester in math, fine arts, language and English.

NOT A HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR OR SENIOR?It’s never too early to discuss your junior and senior year courses with your parent(s) and guidance counselor.

Does your high school offer the St. John’s University College Advantage program? If so, speak with your school’s liaison about selecting and registering for courses. If not, speak with your high school principal, department chair or guidance counselor and encourage them to contact St. John’s University’s Office of Special Programs at (718) 990-6565 for more information.
