Community sends Broncos to Tacoma

STUDENT SUPPORT. Lind-Ritzville High School students showed their sup-port and enthusiasm as their football team prepared to leave for Tacoma.

COMMUNITY RALLIES. Local police and fire units led the Broncos on a tour of the city where the team’s fans celebrated them and their trip to state.

READY FOR THE ROAD. Thanks to an overwhelming amount of support, the Broncos were ready for a long bus ride to the Tacoma Dome last Thursday. After a bonfire on Wednes-day, the team was given an awesome send off by students and fans who lined the streets to honor their gladiators as they went off to battle Morton-White Pass. GRADE SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS. The entire Ritzville Grade School student body lined

the sidewalks with banners and posters as their high school heroes came by as they started their journey to the WIAA 2B State Championship game.

POWERFUL. A nervous mom, eager to see her son and the rest of the Broncos before they took the field for the 2B State Championship got her wish and then some. Karen Whitmore told The Journal about the words of encouragement she

routinely shared with her son on game day. This time, on the big stage, with the team on the verge of capturing a storybook victory, mom got a similar chance, complete with a priceless hug and a moment with her son, Ryan Whitmore!

THE POWER OF THE MOMENT. When time ran off the clock and the celebration erupted, quarterback Dylan Hartz, the Broncos’ field general, dropped to his knees. Assistant coach Ja-son Aldrich was quick to find him and deliver congratulations and comfort following such a huge, emotional victory. The Broncos took nothing for granted this season. They fought hard for every victory and came home Friday night with an undefeated record of 13-0 and the title of State Champions. Hartz and the rest of the team proved time and again that their brotherhood could lead them to victory.
