My journey started in 1971, working for Rick Kreis. He encouraged me to go to North Texas Horseshoeing Institute. This I did and graduated in May of 1973. I didn’t find the AFA until 1984. I completed my Basic Certification in 1985 and Journeyman Certification in 1986. In 1989 I was the alternate on the American Farriers Team and then on the team in 1990 and the Silver Team in 2001.Earning a position

on the team changed everything and since that I have done clinics and classes in 40 states and 4 Canadian provinces. I was awarded the Outstanding Educator in 2001. I have presented at the AFA convention twice, Lexington in 94 and Rochester in 98. I have judged the convention contest twice, Albuquerque in 97 and Lexington in 2010. In 2004, I was honored to be invited to Australia to judge the Australian Nationals in Perth. I traveled to 4 other provinces giving clinics in each. In 2007, I was honored to judge the World Championship Blacksmith Competition in Calgary, Alberta. I have also been honored to have judged 5 times for the WCBC, including the Classic in 2011. In 2001, I was inducted into the Horseshoeing Hall of Fame. I served as Team Coordinator from 2002 to 2009. This journey has also produced a great many articles for numerous trade magazines and along with Dave Farley we have produced a number of instructional videos. In 2010 I was contacted by Jeff Ridley and asked to become involved in a new farrier organization he was formulating, so the journey continues.
