• While Juve were going down 3-0 at FC Barcelona on matchday one, Sporting Clube de Portugal were beatingOlympiacos 3-2 in Piraeus, leaving both these teams playing catch-up in the section.

• Olympiacos parted company with coach Besnik Hasi on 25 September, with Takis Lemonis taking over.

Previous meetings• Juventus have won six of the clubs' ten previous encounters, including all four fixtures played in Turin, and lost onlytwo.

• Returned to Serie A after helping Pescara win promotion in 1992. The following term he scored 12 goals underGiovanni Galeone, the coach Allegri still considers his mentor. After leaving Pescara in 1993, had spells at Cagliari,Perugia, Padova and Napoli before hanging up his boots back in Tuscany with fourth division Aglianese in 2003.

• Moved straight into coaching at Aglianese, prior to taking charge at SPAL and Grosseto. In November 2008 he wonthe Panchina d'Oro (golden bench) as the third division's best coach having led Sassuolo to promotion.

• Had earlier been appointed by Cagliari whom he led to ninth place in 2009, winning the Panchina d'Oro again, thistime as Serie A's best coach. A bad run of results the following season prompted Allegri's dismissal on 13 April 2010 –although he had already done enough to earn a two-year contract at Milan.

• Allegri's first season at San Siro ended with his new club winning the Scudetto for the first time since 2004.Dismissed in January 2014 with Milan 11th in Serie A, that summer he was appointed to succeed Antonio Conte atJuventus. Allegri won the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia with Juventus in his first season, also taking his side to thefinal of the UEFA Champions League, and added further domestic doubles in both 2015/16 and 2016/17, when theyagain reached the UEFA Champions League final.

• Born in Athens, Lemonis joined Olympiacos as a midfielder in 1978 from local club APO Attikos; between then and1987 he won five league titles and two caps for Greece, prior to spells at Levadiakos, Panionios, Ionikos and EthnikosPiraeus.

• Studied coaching in England before taking his first job at modest Asteras Zografou in 1996; returned to Olympiacosfor the first time in 2000 as assistant coach, but was given the top job in November that year following the dismissal ofIoannis Matzourakis, winning titles in his two seasons in charge.

• After a stint in Cyprus, and spells with several other Greek clubs, Lemonis started a second spell at Olympiacos inDecember 2006, winning two more titles before moving on again in 2008.

• Subsequent adventures included a Cypriot title with Omonia in 2009/10. He celebrated a fifth Greek title withOlympiacos in 2016/17 after being brought back to the club in March 2017, and returned for a fourth spell inSeptember the same year, following the departure of Besnik Hasi.
