HIR TPR Transfer-Inter BU, PromotionUsed on an inter-Business Unit transfer where there is no break in service and the transfer is a promotion for the employee. This is a transfer from a non-UCPath location to an UCPath location.

HIR TUK Transfer-Inter BU, Undefined Used for intercampus transfers when there is no way of knowing that it is a Promotion, Lateral, or Demotion. It can also be used for academic personnel.

HIR WPR With Prior UC Affiliation Used to hire someone who has a prior affiliation (Contingent Worker, Person of Interest) with UC.

JED ERT ERIT-EE Reduction in Time Used to place an employee (Exempt & Non Exempt) on ERIT. The employee’s Job FTE will not be reduced.

Use for employees who are members of the National Guard, the Armed Forces, the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service, or any other category designated by the President, have enlisted or have been called to active military duty in the War on Terror campaign are eligible for supplements to their military salaries. A supplement is to compensate for the different between an employee’s University pay and military pay, which will begin on the first day of unpaid military leave.

JED PHR Phased Retirement ProgramUsed to transition into retirement by reducing their appointment percentages over a period of 120 days for up to 3 years. This is only applicable to those that voluntarily participate in an approved system-wide phased retirement program.

JED RET Return to Normal Hours/Distribution Used to return employees to normal hours or distribution.

JED SAB Sabbatical Used when changing Earnings Distribution for when an academic employee is on sabbatical. JED WKC Workers’ Compensation Used to change Earnings Distribution due to Workers’ Compensation.

LOA ADM Administrative Unpaid leave granted by the Chancellor or other University official for a specified duration due to reasons noted in the personnel file.

LOA CFR CFRA Family and Medical Leave Used to track CFRA Family and Medical Leave.

LOA CHI Childbearing Academic Personnel Use: Unpaid leave granted to an employee who is disabled because of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical condition that runs concurrently with FMLA.

LOA CIC Parent of Critically Ill ChildLOA CNV Conversion Use Only Used for those records that have a reason code of ‘Other’ in PPS.

LOA EDU Education/Professional Development

Unpaid leave granted to an employee for career-related or job-related professional development activities such as opportunities for on-the-job training, cross training, coaching, and internships; attendance at courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, institutes, lectures, and meetings; and participation in professional and technical associations.

LOA EWA Expired Work Authorization Unpaid leave placed on an employee with or without notice, due to an expired work authorization.

LOA PER Personal Used when an employee takes an unpaid leave due to personal reasons.

LOA QUA Qualifying Exigency

Unpaid leave for eligible employee who is the spouse, domestic partner, son, daughter or parent of a covered military member may take Qualifying Exigency Leave to attend to any qualifying exigency when the covered military member is on active military duty or has been notified of an impending call or order to active military duty in the Armed Forces.

PAY DEM Demotion A demotion is the movement of an employee to a position with a lower level of responsibility and accountability, usually at a lower salary grade than the employee’s current position (PPSM-62)

PAY EQU Equity A pay rate change for a salary increase granted to correct an internal or external/market inequity.

PAY JRD Job Reclass - Downward Used to add a pay rate change for the job reclassification. This action/reason should be a 2nd row inserted upon the position change.

PAY JRL Job Reclass - Lateral Used to add a pay rate change for the job reclassification. This action/reason should be a 2nd row inserted upon the position change.

PAY REF Range Adjustment/Comp Refresh Used by Comp Refresh process only. The process could be run for the following reasons: Range Adjustment, Academic Scale Adjustment, Across the Board Increases, Mass Updates.

PAY ROP Change to Record-Only Pay Rate Used to change the rate of pay from a non-UC source that is being tracked for records purposes only, such as Postdocs Paid Direct.

PAY STI Step Increase/Progression A pay rate change that is an advancement to a higher step in accordance with applicable contract provisions. Used in the Administer Compensation business process.

PAY U18 Unit 18 Salary Increase Academic Personnel Use: Contracted salary increase based on quarter of service or other reason.

PAY WOS Move to/from Without Salary Used to move an employee to/from the ‘UCWOS’ comp rate codes.

PLA ADM Administrative Paid leave granted by a Chancellor or other University official for a specified duration due to reasons noted in the personnel file.

Temporary transfer a represented employee, according to the employee’s bargaining contract, to fully perform the functions of a position in a different classification. The University shall determine the duration and end date of such assignment. The temporary assignment shall not result in the permanent reclassification of the employee. This moves the employee into a new department.
