IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES – FALL 2015
• Monday, October 12: Native American Day - no classes
• Wednesday, October 28: Last day to completely withdraw from the semester and receive a prorated refund, receive grades of W
• Friday, November 6: Last day to drop a class and get a grade of W, and, last day to completely withdraw, but no refund
• November 11: Veteran’s Day - no classes
• November 25 – 29: Thanksgiving break - no classes
• December 9: No classes
• December 10 – 16: Finals week
IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES – SPRING 2016
• Monday, January 11: Classes begin
• Monday, January 18: MLK, Jr holiday – no classes
• Wednesday, January 20: Last day to add / drop classes without penalty
• Monday, February 15: Presidents’ Day – no classes
• March 7 – 11: Spring Break
• Thursday, March 24: Last day to completely withdraw from all classes and receive a prorated refund
• March 25 – 27: Easter Recess
• Tuesday, April 5: Last day to drop a class and receive a grade of W, and, last day to completely withdraw from all classes, but no refund
• May 2 – 6: Finals week
W GRADE POLICY
• Effective for Fall 2015 and on
• Students are allowed a maximum of 6 Withdraws (WD) undergraduate classes over your academic career. These grades do not factor into your GPA.
• Each additional drop will receive a grade of WFL – withdraw fail. These grades will calculate into your GPA.
• This policy applies to courses dropped after the drop / add period at the start of each semester / session.
• Exclusions to the policy:• Drops prior to Fall 2015• Complete withdrawals from the University (dropping all classes)• Transfer courses• Lab course (concurrent)
PROFICIENCY EXAM – CAAP • All degree-seeking undergraduate students in the public university system are required to meet
satisfactory academic performance on the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency, or CAAP.
• Bachelor’s degree-seeking students are required to take the exam when they’ve passed 48 credits.• Associate’s degree-seeking students are required to take the exam when they’ve passed 32 credits.
• Four proficiency areas – writing skills, math, reading & science• Proficiency Exam review sessions
• Tuesday, October 27 @ 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. in Avera Hall• Tuesday, October 27 @ 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Avera Hall
• Proficiency Exam schedule• Re-testers – November 3 & 4• English as a Second Language (ESL) – November 5• First-time testers – November 6 & 7
• Look for correspondence in your official university email account and sign up appropriately.
PREPARE FOR SPRING 2016 AND BEYOND
• Spring 2016 registration is open now. Some of you may already be registered.
• If you are a current student, you are eligible to register for spring 2016 classes, barring any holds or restrictions on your account.
• Summer 2016 and Fall 2016 registration opens October 26.

IDENTIFY REGISTRATION DATE
• Spring 2016 – open for current students
• Summer 2016 & Fall 2016 – look for date and time that registration window opens
ACCOUNT HOLDS / RESTRICTIONS
• Holds & restrictions will prevent you from registering for classes or making changes to your schedule.
• Examples of restrictions• CADV – advising • CAR – accounts receivable • CGE – general education
ADVISING APPOINTMENT
• Schedule an appointment with your advisor by calling or emailing him / her.
• Review & print your Program Evaluation from WebAdvisor.
• At the appointment, discuss the following:• SGR’s• IGR’s• Major requirements• Minor requirements• Electives
• Develop a list of classes for Spring 2016 and beyond.
• Prepare at least three questions to ask your advisor.
REGISTER FOR SPRING 2016 CLASSES
• Register for classes in WebAdvisor after meeting with your advisor.
ATTENDANCE CONFIRMATION
• All students are required to complete Attendance Confirmation in WebAdvisor.
• Attendance Confirmation is an electronic process that:• Confirms attendance for the upcoming term• Select payment options and responsibilities• Select refund preferences – mail or direct deposit• Refunds will not be generated unless attendance confirmation is completed• Review & update address and contact information• Designate a refund address
• Attendance Confirmation is available 20 – 30 days before semester start.
