Parallel inverter controller.

Design and verification of control code for paral-lel inverters, in grid connected configuration, is a daunting task. Here, a complete control soft-ware for three parallel grid-connected inverters for energy storage is developed, and tested with micro-Grid DSP InterfaceboardandHIL602.Allthefastcontrollerfunctions—i.e.PWMmodula-tion, inverter synchronization, current loops—as well as protection functions and high-level control functions (i.e. dynamic grid support) were tested and characterized using micro-Grid DSP Interface board and HIL602. One key ad-vantage of the DSP board is its PnP HIL interface that enables quick deployment in HIL configu-ration. Hence, designer can immediately test parallel-inverter control code, even without per-formingoff-linesimulationsfirst.Also,multiplemicro-Grid DSP boards can be used with multi-pleHILsinaClusterconfiguration.

Testing and verification.

Micro-Grid DSP Interface, with three TI DSP controller boards enables rapid deployment and testing of paralleled converter control al-gorithms. Indeed, Micro-GridDSP Interface is ideal choice for developing multi-inverter syn-chronization schemes and PWM optimizationfor minimization of circulating currents. BuiltinTIDSPJTAGemulatorchipenablesquickac-cess and full control over all three DSP proces-sorsforefficientdebuggingviaUSBcable.

With automated test scripts, controlling bothHIL602andDSPs,testcasesrequiredforsafe and robust grid connected operation can be verified. In addition, HIL fault injection pro-vides comprehensive environment for test and verification of controller performance under grid faults, including sags, dips, frequency dis-turbances, over voltages, component failures, and battery faults.
