Transparent:Light goes through these surfaces almost completely. A small amount of light is reflected.

Examples: clear glass, air, water.

Translucent:Light goes through these surfaces only partially. A certain amount is absorbed. Some light is reflected.

Examples: frosted glass, wax paper, thin cloth.

Opaque (rough and dark):Most of the light is absorbed. A small amount of light is reflected in multiple directions (diffuse reflection).

Examples: black wall, dark brick, dark book bag.

Examples: white wall, mirror.
