Colorado College Economics Paraprofessional - 2006 CI:Insight A hardcore text and data analytics application that allows customers to quickly find “insight” in a mess of social media data. Insight is an almost fully AJAX application with a Ruby on Rails backend that talks to several webservices and datastores. Iteratively designed and built the app with a small team over a few months. The interface is completely custom built using several js frameworks such as jquery, raphaeljs, and underscore, to achieve a high level of interactivity and maintainability. Internal Apps w/ SSO Replaced the “monolithic” internal app to be multiple small, focused, and maintainable apps. I designed a handrolled single-sign-on system using memcache to share session state across several applications that requires very little configuration in each app (I hate lots of configuration). I also developed replacement apps that allowed our operations team to quickly accomplish business tasks that were previously difficult or impossible to accomplish. CI:View and Dashboarding A small sinatra app that talks to multiple BI backends to serve custom dashboards to customers in a CI branded interface. I’ve also been spearheading development of a highly scalable dashboarding solution using MicroStrategy. I’m developing a consistent look and feel along with standardizing our dashboard offerings. Marketing Website Redesigned the company website to 1) have a contact form and track leads and 2) not suck. Aimed to correct the “wtf do you guys do” questions people would have about our company which the old website(s) did not address. Worked with the CEO and marketing resource to produce easy to understand copy that describes the business and technology. Collective Intellect 2008 - Now Other cool stuff I’ve built (for Collective Intellect) Developed reporting app and middleware to capture and store user interaction with CI:Insight. Designed a set of easy to implement Private Data ETL ruby classes to rapidly map client data to CI’s format which saved CI from hiring consultants. Built fast and maintainable API’s as pluggable middleware with Sinatra that talk json. Designed a bookmarklet called Columbo (getcolumbo.com) to help analysts search for text on webpages more awesomely.
