In-Between The FamilyA Family that prays together, will stay

togetherBy Tya MaineIn American culture, family is a very much

large aspect of many peoples lifes. We all

need the love and support of a family, in order

to survive in this world. Sadly to say, many

people have weak family ties, and that can

affect their lifes in a negative or even posi-

tive way. In this family, their ties started out

abnormally different than many families.

Cassaundra Moore says, I never thought my

kids would bond with a man they never knew,

and is not even their father. Tyas family

household consists of: Cassaundra and Kevin

Moore (step-father), Kaliah and Kierra Moore

(step-sisters), Dominique Roberts (half-broth-

er), and Jalen Maine (blood sibling). On the

outside to many people, this family has had all

but laughs. If you look carefully this family

has gone through seperation, death, arguments,and a household of nothing but silence. Words

have been exchanged that they will forever

regret. A family that prays together will stay

together is what this family has built their

foundation on. Prayer has been key to our

family getting through the rough times, and

also me being able to get over my father leav-

ing me at such a young age, says Tya Maine.

Not only prayer, but also a strong Christianfoundation is upheld in the Moore household.

God dwells is their lifes and home, creating

a peaceful aspect in both areas. No family has

grown and learns like the Moore family; their

love for each other and faith in God gets them

through the dark situations even when they feel

like giving up. For Tya, her family tie is what

keeps her rooted and grounded. The morals

and values taught by her parents are instilled in

her, even when she doesnt necessarily uphold

them. In between the sorrow, fear, and sadness

in her life; she can also nd strength in the love

of her family.

Barbara Jean Roberts (grand-

mother) has had a major impactom Tyas life. She , along with

her mom, helped raise her after

her father left. Today , she shows

appreciation for all the discipline,

and values she instilled in her.
