A recent survey indicated that nearly two thirds of PSAPs prefer text message delivery be integrated with their call handling system. Limitations• Speed of TTY is VERY slow • 99 percent reliability rate could equal 1 in 100 characters being garbled in the TTY text dialogue• Half duplex, which means the PSAP cannot receive messages while it is responding to a message • Competes with incoming 9-1-1 voice calls
