DuplicatePhotoCleaner (Not Recommended ). An interesting and potentially very useful concept: identifying duplicate, near-duplicate and even very similar photos by the actual image content rather than file metadata. However it is expensive and the developers customer support is non-existent.

Two Little Apps

JuicePhone -useful and free. Allows you to extract photos and some other data from your iPhone/iPad/iPod backups in iTunes.

Choose a backup from the list at the left, then click Extract

A folder will be created with the contents of the backup. A couple of things are easily recovered:

Unfortunately, most of the data is in SQLite database format, and can only be accessed if you have an app than can deal with those files (and some expertise in using SQL).

NOT RECOMMENDED

Really bad customer support. Although the app appears to do what it claims, I have not been able to test it completely because it no longer runs after I migrated from my old iMac to a new one. I have been unable to get their support staff to respond to this issue in over a month of trying.
