First Steps

Begin Tweeting

Live Tweet the Games: This is why it’s important to have

people tweeting that understand the game, know the

players and rules. Also why good, witty and engaging

writers are better.

Daily Tweeting: Tweet facts, news, updates and “inside”

information. Information about the players, practices and

other happenings within the organization. Be informative

and engaging.

search (name of team and players) in twitter search for

people already talking about the team. Follow them.

Add Twitter to Main Site: Might or might not want to add

the twitter widget – however, link to twitter account

somewhere on the main team site

game to @teamname to for immediate follow back

Additional Tweeting

Engage With Fans

Tweet Blog Posts: To be much appreciated by loyal bloggers

– tweet their blog posts/write-ups of the games. Not just major

paper or blogger write-ups.

Retweeting: Retweet relevant fan tweets for others to read.

Ask For Feedback: Do not fear to ask fans for feedback,

questions or comments.

Reply to Fans: @teamname is someone communicating with

you – communicate back whenever possible

Showcase Live Tweeting: At random times run a screen of the live tweeting. (Use hashtag)

Prizes For Live Tweeting: Run contests during the games and reward the fans live tweeting. (Their tweeting is broadcasting the game to their networks – raising awareness)
