LIFE CHAIN is a national event;

hundreds will be standing across the nation

united in prayer against abortion. You are

invited to join us on Sunday, October 6th from 2:00pm to

3:00pm as we pray for the babies, women and families

affected by abortion. We will gather along Church Road in

Confirmation Liturgy - Sunday, October 20th

at 4:00 pm. All are invited. Join us in

celebrating the youth of our six parishes as

they receive the sacrament of confirmation

and begin their journey as fully initiated Catholics. Pray

that they remain faithful to their convictions and are able

to stand up for what they believe. And that they find the

strength with the help of the Holy Spirit to live the faith

which they profess.

A CALL TO HOLINESS

103. A similar approach is found in the Old

Testament: “You shall not wrong a stranger or

oppress him, for you yourselves were strangers in the

land of Egypt” (Ex 22:21). “When a stranger resides

with you in your land, you shall not oppress him.

The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as

the citizen among you; and you shall love him as

yourself; for you were strangers in the land of

Egypt” (Lev 19:33-34). This is not a notion invented

by some Pope, or a momentary fad. In today’s world

too, we are called to follow the path of spiritual

wisdom proposed by the prophet Isaiah to show what

is pleasing to God. “Is it not to share your bread with

the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your

house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and

not to hide yourself from your own kin? Then your

light shall break forth like the dawn” (58:7-8).

103. Algo semejante plantea el Antiguo Testamento

cuando dice: «No maltratarás ni oprimirás al

emigrante, pues emigrantes fuisteis vosotros en la

tierra de Egipto» (Ex 22,20). «Si un emigrante reside

con vosotros en vuestro país, no lo oprimiréis. El

emigrante que reside entre vosotros será para

vosotros como el indígena: lo amarás como a ti

mismo, porque emigrantes fuisteis en Egipto» (Lv

19,33-34). Por lo tanto, no se trata de un invento de

un Papa o de un delirio pasajero. Nosotros también,

en el contexto actual, estamos llamados a vivir el

camino de iluminación espiritual que nos presentaba

el profeta Isaías cuando se preguntaba qué es lo que

agrada a Dios: «Partir tu pan con el hambriento,

hospedar a los pobres sin techo, cubrir a quien ves

desnudo y no desentenderte de los tuyos. Entonces

surgirá tu luz como la aurora» (58,7-8).

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers are needed throughout the day to help with

the various games and booths. There are lots of places to volunteer…..

children’s games, dessert booth, cake walk, white elephant, set up, clean up and much

Cakes and Desserts: We need at least 50 cakes for the cake walk and loads of desserts

for the dessert booth. A signup sheet is in the gathering space or you may email

ctksdonna@gmail.com to volunteer to bring an item or two or three.

PLEASE we cannot accept any donation that needs to be kept refrigerated.

Basket Raffle: We need themed baskets to raffle at the Fall Fest. If you or group

can put together a basket, bring it to the church it would be greatly appreciated.

Can’t do a whole basket, but have some items that might be good? bring these

items by the church asap and we will try to use them in a basket that needs a few

more items.

Loteria Prizes: Our loteria booth is in need of new items in the $10-$20 range. These items

need to be brought to the church office by Sunday, September 29.

Entertainment: Don Kraft is looking for acts to fill in the spots throughout the day. Do you sing?

Dance? Are you a comedian? Whatever your talent is: call or text Don at

615-585-1718 to secure your spot.

Giving Tree: The giving tree is full of leaves; we ask you stop by and take a leaf

or two or three….. These items will help us with the cost of running the festival.

Please take a leaf (leaves), buy the item(s), and bring the item(s) back to the

giving tree by Sunday, September 29. It is important to have the items in

advance so that we know what still needs to be purchased.

Raffle Tickets: Raffle Tickets are being sold before and after all weekend Masses. We ask

everyone to take a couple of books home to sell…….winners will be drawn throughout the

day of the festival (Oct.5). Prizes: $100, $200, $300, $400, $500 and $500.

Carnival games, international foods, cake walk, basket raffle,

Fishing rodeo, entertainment, blood pressure checks, fire and police departments,

and much more. Fun for all ages.
