at the Fall Fest. We invite individuals or groups to collect

items and arrange them in a basket for raffling off at the

Fall Fest.

Raffle tickets -- The raffle is our biggest fund raiser of

the year. Tickets will be available soon in the gathering

area. Ticket cost $2. Prizes are $100, $200, $300, $400

and 2 prizes of $500!!

We need your help to buy and sell the tickets.

As the new youth coordinator of our six parishes in

northern Mississippi. I am excited to build our youth

program. My goal is to work with our priests, DREs,

parents and students to create activities that will be fun and

foster a love for our faith. Our success will only be

accomplished through the help of our parents and adult

parishioners, and the participation of our children. Since I

can’t do this alone, I am looking for both adults and

teenagers from each church to meet with me to plan

Como nueva coordinadora juvenil de nuestras seis

parroquias en el norte de Mississippi, estoy entusiasmada

de iniciar el programa juvenil. Mi objetivo es trabajar con

divertidas y fomenten el amor por nuestra fe. Nuestro éxito

Planting the Seeds of Good Stewardship in our Children-During the Offertory, the presider will stand in the middle of

the aisle with a basket and invite all of our children to come

with their offerings. Through this practice we want to teach our

children how to be good stewards. At the same time, we want

to teach our children that our monetary offering is only one way

of being good stewards. All that we have comes from a loving

God and in gratitude we acknowledge that by offering our time,

treasure, and talents to serve God and his people.

Plantando las semillas de la generosidad en nuestros niños- Durante el Ofertorio, el sacerdote se parará en medio del pasillo

con una canasta invitando a todos nuestros niños a venir con

A CALL TO HOLINESS

BY POPE FRANCIS

98. If I encounter a person sleeping outdoors on a cold

night, I can view him or her as an annoyance, an idler, an

obstacle in my path, a troubling sight, a problem for

politicians to sort out, or even a piece of refuse cluttering

a public space. Or I can respond with faith and charity,

and see in this person a human being with a dignity

identical to my own, a creature infinitely loved by the

Father, an image of God, a brother or sister redeemed by

Jesus Christ. That is what it is to be a Christian! Can

holiness somehow be understood apart from this lively

recognition of the dignity of each human being?[82]

99. For Christians, this involves a constant and healthy

unease. Even if helping one person alone could justify all

our efforts, it would not be enough. The bishops of

Canada made this clear when they noted, for example,

that the biblical understanding of the jubilee year was

about more than simply performing certain good works. It

also meant seeking social change: “For later generations

to also be released, clearly the goal had to be the

restoration of just social and economic systems, so there

could no longer be exclusion”.[83]

ocioso, un estorbo en mi camino, un aguijón molesto para

mi conciencia, un problema que deben resolver los

políticos, y quizá hasta una basura que ensucia el espacio

público. O puedo reaccionar desde la fe y la caridad, y

reconocer en él a un ser humano con mi misma dignidad,

a una creatura infinitamente amada por el Padre, a una

imagen de Dios, a un hermano redimido por Jesucristo.

¡Eso es ser cristianos! ¿O acaso puede entenderse la

santidad al margen de este reconocimiento vivo de la

dignidad de todo ser humano?[82]

99. Esto implica para los cristianos una sana y

permanente insatisfacción. Aunque aliviar a una sola

persona ya justificaría todos nuestros esfuerzos, eso no

nos basta. Los Obispos de Canadá lo expresaron

claramente mostrando que, en las enseñanzas bíblicas

sobre el Jubileo, por ejemplo, no se trata solo de realizar

algunas buenas obras sino de buscar un cambio social:

«Para que las generaciones posteriores también fueran

liberadas, claramente el objetivo debía ser la restauración

de sistemas sociales y económicos justos para que ya no

pudiera haber exclusión»[83].

in need of your financial support and prayers to balance this budget. Our building is 15

the building, but only taking in approximately $12,000 a quarter in donations. The balance is being

paid out of savings, but this is not a sustainable plan.

If each family would increase their weekly contributions by just $1.00, it would go a long way toward

helping to balance our budget. Please pray and respond by increasing your contributions to Christ the

King Parish. We have a beautiful facility and want to keep it a beacon of spiritual growth and

hospitality to the people of Southaven and beyond.
