Introduction HSC Sim has a capability to mass balance the process data. The features of the HSC Sim are:

• HSC Sim recognizes any flowsheet and can deal with missing analyses. I.e. you don’t have to redraw your flowsheet just for mass balancing. HSC Sim can cope with streams without analyses.

• HSC Sim solves the total solids flowrates from the assays and then calculates balanced assays • At the moment balance is restricted to 1D, i.e. unsized

Step-by-step instructions Follow steps 1-9 and see Figures 1-16.

1. Draw Flowsheet 2. Name Units and flows 3. Arrange analysis data

a. Row wise b. First column is the stream name (exactly the same as in the flowsheet) c. Elements in column after the stream

4. Open the Data – Analyses 5. Paste assay data 6. Go to data reconciliation

7. Check mass balance equations, define CV%’s 8. Solve and check, iterate 7-8 9. Save the result and calculate recoveries.
